Shrewsbury Folk Festival gets underway later after the 2020 event was cancelled.
The event at the West Midlands Showground will see about 7,000 visitors a day over the bank holiday weekend.
Jo Cunningham, from the organising committee, said the stages are open air because of the pandemic, people working there are taking Covid tests, and visitors are being asked to do tests before they arrive.
"We've had a lot of people who have rolled their tickets over, but then we've had a lot of new ticket buyers," she said.
"So we've got quite a lot of new visitors coming this year which should be really nice, give us a chance to show what we've got to offer and show what Shrewsbury has got to offer as well."

Work is progressing on the new Perry Barr Railway Station ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
A steel frame which will support the new station building is being put up as work continues at pace to get the structure ready for opening next spring, Transport for West Midlands said.
Deputy Mayor of the West Midlands Councillor Bob Sleigh said: “It was only a few weeks ago that the old station was demolished so it is encouraging to see such rapid progress being made on site.
“This railway station will not only be a new gateway for visitors to Alexander Stadium for the Commonwealth Games next year, but also provide a more welcoming and accessible facility for residents of Perry Barr for years to come."
The £30.9 million project is part of a wider £500 million plus investment in Perry Barr led by Birmingham City Council.
