Work has started to cover a landfill site linked to bad smells with a special material to seal the waste.
Walleys Quarry in Silverdale, Staffordshire, has prompted thousands of complaints from the local community going back several years about the odour.
The quarry owners say they're using a clay-based material to seal about 20,000sq m at the site.
Figures released by the Environment Agency (EA) earlier this year showed hydrogen sulphide (H2S) levels at the site in Silverdale had, at points, exceeded World Health Organization guidelines.
The company said waste at the the site, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, would be enclosed with a barrier and help the smell problem.
