Renewed efforts to tackle Worcester's seagulls are paying off, according to officers working for the city council.
The numbers of breeding pairs in the city are thought to be at an all-time high.
But after years of complaints, on Tuesday night the city council reported measures such as flying hawks, egg and nest removals and steel mesh cages on roofs are yielding some success.
It's now agreed to increase spending on gulls by £40,000.
Mark Cox, from Worcestershire Regulatory Services, said the number of complaints and service requests received had "consistently dropped" over the past three years.
"At the recent gull forum a couple of weeks ago, the feedback from that was the improvements the residents have seen have been significant, and for them as individuals life changing," he added.
