Speed limit on most dual carriageways is 70mph. Surely it'd be better to vary the speed limit? Lower limits in heavy traffic make sense but why force drivers to slow outside this time?

    Jenny Allen

    Quote Message

Ridiculous ! Bristol City Council has been anti car for years and had created havoc and a hostile environment for motorists , with very few viable alternative forms of transport . I am very glad that I no longer need to come there

    Anna Reynolds

    Quote Message

wow this is going to cause chaos.. Plus people are going to be coming off the M5 and suddenly having to slow right down

    Nikki Fox

    Quote Message

Needs reclassifying as not really a motorway anymore. Has anyone involved thought about the impact on emergency services? There are limits on how fast they can travel, even on blue lights which is based on the posted speed limits. Therefore this will cost lives as response times are made even longer as has already happened with so many 20mph zones around Bristol.

    Christopher Halliwell and Becky Godden

Taxi driver Christopher Halliwell is found guilty of Becky Godden's murder

In the course of his defence, Christopher Halliwell dismissed his legal team and then maintained that he had not been involved in Becky’s murder.

This meant the Crown Prosecution Service could ask the court to reverse the ruling which prevented the jury from being told about his confession.

It succeeded and this meant that the CPS could tell the jury not only that he was serving a life sentence for Sian’s murder but also that he had confessed to Becky’s murder and knew where she had been buried.

    Quote Message

Even then, despite all the evidence, including his own confession, Mr Halliwell continued to fight the case. In the process, he has put Becky’s family through untold suffering on top of the terrible pain he has caused them by murdering Becky.

    Quote Message

Despite his every effort to evade justice, he has been convicted and I hope that this will finally give some comfort and closure to Becky’s family. Our thoughts have been very much with them, and also with Sian’s family, throughout this dreadful ordeal.
