    A Swindon man who carried out sex offences on two young girls over a period of 20 years has been jailed for 10 years and two months.

    Eric Pyle, 61, from Toothill, carried out the first offences on one child between 1990 and 1993 and the second offences on the other child between 2008 and 2010.

    Pyle was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court after pleading guilty to 12 sex offences against children and three counts of making indecent images of children.

    Wiltshire Police's Nicola Ainsley said: “We welcome this sentencing, as it reflects the seriousness of these offences and the impact they have had on the children involved.

  4. Glastonbury Festival announces new security measures following terror attackspublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 6 June 2017

    Organisers of the Glastonbury Festival have warned ticket holders to expect extra security checks this year in light of the recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

    All ticket holders will be subject to extra searches of their vehicles, their bags and their person, and so organisers have asked visitors to pack as lightly as they can.

    The statement reads: "This will make entrance slower than in previous years. Please be patient if there are queues, and please cooperate with any security requests and all searches."

    Visitors are also advised to avoid the peak time for arrivals on Wednesday 21 June and arrive instead on Thursday 22 June or Friday 23 June, if possible.

    Delays on the railway lines between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway are expected until 1pm.

    National Rail says a fault with the signalling system, external between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway is causing delays of up to 60 minutes to trains between these stations.

    To mark yesterday's sad news of the death of Peter Sallis, aged 96, we've been having a dig around in the archives.

    The actor was well known for appearing in Last of the Summer Wine. But he was also famous as the voice of Wallace, in Wallace and Gromit.

    People across the West Country held a minute's silence at 11am today to remember the victims of the terror attack in London at the weekend.

    At Cabot Circus in Bristol there was a brief announcement over the PA system, then the place fell silent and everyone stood still for a moment of quiet reflection and remembrance.

    Swindon Town have confirmed former Bury and Barnsley boss David Flitcroft has been appointed as their new manager.

    The 43-year-old replaces former head coach Luke Williams, who left the County Ground in May following the club's relegation to League Two.

    BBC Wiltshire scored the first interview with Flitcroft following the announcement of his appointment.

    He said he wants to develop existing players and staff who have "a work ethic" and "build an infrastructure around that".
