  1. Burst on 'larger main' says Bristol Waterpublished at 08:35 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

    Bristol Water says it first started getting calls around midnight over the water problems.

    Rob Ellis, from Bristol Water, said the burst is on one of its "larger mains".

    "It's a large volume of water which is coming out which is making it difficult to find the area which we need to dig down to, to fix," he said.

    "The storms, last night, has meant that there's a few trees over in the area as well - which is making it difficult."

    The disruption is expected to last for several hours.

    Thousands of people living in Whitchurch, Stockwood, Willsbridge, Hanham and Keynsham are waking up to no water or much-reduced pressure after a water main burst in Willsbridge.

    Bristol Water says alternative water supplies wlll be "out shortly" but added vulnerable customers will be prioritised.

    It said bowsers are being sent to Tesco, Bristol Rd, Keynsham BS31 2BA, and Waitrose BS31 1ST.

  8. Thirteen schools could be affected by water main burstpublished at 07:30 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

    Bristol Water says 13 schools have been affected by the burst water main to the east of Bristol.

    A spokesman said it would be up to the schools to decide whether they are able to open or not.

    He added the company is looking to get bottled water or bowsers out but was unable to give any time scale for this.

    Bristol Water say 35,000 homes are without water or on low pressure as a result of a burst water main. A spokesman for the utility said the fault had been isolated and work is under way to repair the pipe.
