  1. 'Multiple broken-down trains' in Hampshire and Dorset

    South Western Railway services in Hampshire and Dorset have been badly affected

    South Western Railway says its dealing with "multiple broken-down trains" between Weymouth and Southampton.

    It says passengers are advised not to travel between the cities and there are no trains running between Weymouth and Bournemouth.

    It means all services between Weymouth and London are starting and ending at Bournemouth.

    Trains between Salisbury and London are also cancelled and Island Line trains are not running.

  2. Police say 'rescue operation' under way to help trapped motorists

    Avon and Somerset police say they are trying to help people who have become trapped in their cars across the area.

    We've spoken to people stuck on both the A303 and the A46.

    Some of those trapped have been in their cars for up to 12 hours with snow and accidents causing big problems.

    The force said: "We’re co-ordinating a rescue operation at a number of locations."

    If you are stuck they are asking you to call 101 for help.

  6. Latest from Bristol Airport - flights cancelled

    Our staff have been working through the night to ensure the runway is clear and for Bristol Airport to be open and operational from 09.00am this morning. The following flights are scheduled to operate this morning: Thomas Cook, TUI and the bmi regional at 10.40am to Brussels. easyJet have cancelled flights up to midday, Ryanair up to 0900 hours and Aer Lingus and KLM have cancelled the morning flights. This is a rapidly changing situation and please check with your airline before you leave home. Currently the Bristol and Weston Flyer bus services are not operating to the airport and further information will be available from 9am onwards. The safety of our passengers, staff and business partners is our priority and we ask people to make safe decision regarding their travel. We thank our passengers for their patience and understanding and will keep you updated through the morning.

    One of the consequences of that accident is that many have been left stranded on the A303.

    One of those is Tom Hardy. He's stuck near Warminster in Wiltshire and says he has been there all night.

  13. Bristol Airport latest: No flights until at least 7.30am - with others cancelled until midday

    Here's what we've just heard from Bristol Airport:

    • Situation hasn’t changed from Thursday
    • Ryanair flights cancelled until 9am
    • Easyjet flights cancelled until midday
    • They’ve been snow clearing through the night
    • There won’t be any flights until at least 7.30am due to snow

    Wiltshire Police say numerous roads across the county are impassable, and they are dealing with a high volume of people stuck in their vehicles.

    The roads they are currently dealing with are:

    • A346 Swindon - Marlborough
    • A4361 Avebury - Wroughton
    • A303 Mere and surrounding area
    • A27 / A36 Whiteparish
    • B3089 West Knoyle
    • A30 near Pitton
    • Horton Road Devizes - Alton Barnes
