BBC Online News, West of England @PollitaMarchWe report on crime and crime prevention in the Avon and Somerset police force area every day, but the overall picture for how this significant resource is deployed is often difficult to portray.
So today I’m at force HQ in Portishead and I am getting access to areas of the force the public don’t usually see.
I’ll see officers in training and observe how firearms officers prepare for those rare events when weapons are deployed.
I'll be sitting with 999 call handlers and attend the daily meeting, where the force decides its policing priorities for the day.
