    Blood donor

A woman who survived a head-on crash says she owes her life to people who donate blood.

Emily Pringle, from Cheltenham, suffered 27 broken bones, ruptured an artery in her neck and lost litres of blood following the crash on the A40 in July last year.

She was introduced to Karl Kellner who was one of her blood donors.

"Your blood played a major, major part in keeping me alive and I am very grateful," Ms Pringle told him.

Mr Kellner said he was "quite nervous" before the meeting, adding it was "an amazing experience" and "one I will remember forever".

"Every time I donate now, I will be thinking in the back of my mind that this is something that will change another person's life," he said.

The multi-million pound revamp of the Colston Hall will not be completed on time.

The Bristol music venue had been due to reopen in 2020 but this has been delayed until 2021.

Louise Mitchell, from the Bristol Music Trust which runs the hall, said: "Following further assessments of the building after its closure in June 2018, and as works have progressed and uncovered the delicate Victorian structure of the building, it has become clear that the original opening timetable needs to be revised.

“Therefore we now aim to open the doors to a new world-class music venue in autumn 2021"

    Graham Road Surgery in Weston-super-Mare

A GP surgery in Weston-super-Mare will close and patients moved to another practice almost a mile away, health bosses have confirmed.

Clarence Park surgery’s landlord is withdrawing its lease “in the near future”, with all 5,000 residents registered there, many of whom are elderly, being offered a transfer to Graham Road.

It comes as a group of local GPs, which has formed Pier Health Group, has “stepped in at the last minute” to take over primary care services at the pair of medical practices from June 17.

The announcement from Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire clinical commissioning group says the agreement has “secured the future of GP services for patients” at the two surgeries following a decision by current provider Locality Health Centre CIC to hand back its contracts to the CCG.

But it also says: “As part of the changes, the current landlord of the Clarence Park premises has indicated that it will be withdrawing the lease for Clarence Park in the near future.

“As a result of this it is expected that patients at Clarence Park practice will be offered the opportunity to transfer to Graham Road practice at a future date. “Patients at the practice will be kept informed of developments.”

Anyone with questions is advised to speak to staff at either surgery. Answers to frequently asked questions will also be published on the practices’ websites.
