Gloucester City Council’s cabinet could approve the scheme that would see YMCA Cheltenham buy 48 units in the city to be used to house those at risk of becoming, or are, homeless in temporary accommodation.
The authority cannot confirm neither where the locations of the accommodations would be, nor how much it will cost, but did say they could be dotted around the district.
According to a council document, Cheltenham’s YMCA wants to launch the 48 unit housing scheme and the city council’s cabinet are pushing to make it happen.
The decision will then be presented to full council on July 11 for final sign-off.

Image source, Avon and Somerset PolicePolice across the Avon and Somerset force area are using new tactics designed to disrupt criminal activity and prevent terrorist attacks.
Project Servator uses high visible, armed officers who can identify criminal intent, along with police dogs, horses, helicopters and drones.
The initiative is supported by CCTV operators, security staff and vehicle checkpoints.
The aim is to create a "network of vigilance" which will deter potential terrorists considering their targets and individuals looking to commit crime.
It has been trialled at Bristol Airport since May 2018 and implemented at a number of different locations and events across the force area, a police spokesperson confirmed.
Insp Jon Hext said Servator deployments look different to standard patrols but are "nothing to worry about".
He said: "This is an approach to policing which has been proven to disrupt criminal activity.
"We can send a clear message to potential criminals that we are watching, we will spot you and we will stop you."
It has already been rolled out across 13 other UK force areas.
