  4. Bristol North West: Labour holdpublished at 05:11 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2019

    Darren Jones has been re-elected as the MP for Bristol North West, with an increased majority.

    The Labour candidate beat Conservative Mark Weston by 5,692 votes, 931 more votes than the majority at the 2017 election.

    Chris Coleman of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Heather Mack came fourth.

    Voter turnout was up by 1.6 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 56,000 people, roughly three-quarters of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    One of the four candidates, Heather Mack (Green) lost her £500 deposit after failing to win 5% of the vote.

    Commons Leader Jacob Rees-Mogg has been re-elected as the MP for Somerset North East, with an increased majority.

    The Conservative candidate beat Labour's Mark Huband by 14,729 votes, 4,494 more votes than the majority at the 2017 election.

    Nick Coates of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Fay Whitfield came fourth.

    Voter turnout was up by 0.7 percentage points since the last general election.

    More than 56,000 people, roughly three-quarters of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    Two of the five candidates, Fay Whitfield (Green) and Shaun Hughes (independent) lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.

    Conservative Siobhan Baillie has ousted Labour's David Drew to become MP for Stroud, winning the seat by 3,840 votes.
