    Labour's candidate in Wells, Kama McKenzie, said that the election became a "second Brexit referendum".

    Conservative James Heappey also said he is confident of victory in Wells, probably with an increased majority.

    Wera Hobhouse has held the Bath seat for the Liberal Democrats, polling 28,419 votes.

    She was first elected to the seat in 2017.

    Justice Secretary Robert Buckland has been re-elected as the MP for Swindon South, with an increased majority.

    The Conservative candidate beat Labour's Sarah Church by 6,625 votes, more than double the majority at the 2017 election.

    Stan Pajak of the Liberal Democrats came third.

    Voter turnout was down by 1.4 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 51,000 people, 69.4% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    All three candidates keep their deposits, after receiving more than 5% of the votes.
