  2. Weather: A wet and windy night as Storm Frank moves awaypublished at 17:30

    It will be wet and windy to begin with this evening as Storm Frank begins to clear overnight. Minimum temperature: 5C (41F).

    New Year's Eve will be mainly fine and dry. However, there will be a brief spell of strong winds and heavy rain moving through in the late afternoon or early evening.

  3. People in Cambridgeshire donate goods for UK flood victimspublished at 17:20

    Chris Cooper, who works for the East of England Ambulance service, has been inundated with donations for flood victims in the north of England.

    Mr Cooper, external, who lives in Saffron Walden, has been collecting donations of food and other goods in the Cambridge area, including £200 worth of supplies from Tesco in Milton, he said.

    Thousands of homes are without power and severe flood warnings, external remain in place.

    The founder of a Cambridgeshire firework company that had £100,000-worth of pyrotechnics stolen just before bonfire night says they are no nearer to finding out who took them.

    Staff at Kimbolton Fireworks worked overtime to fulfil orders following the theft in the early hours of 25 October. 

    Ron Lancaster says the company has now recovered form the theft, but "has heard nothing" about what happened to the haul.

    A missing woman from Luton could be in Peterborough or Wisbech, according to Police.

    Bedfordshire Police are appealing for help in tracing, external Charlotte Hoey, 22, who was last seen by her family on Sunday. Officers say they are becoming increasingly concerned for her.

  7. Hercules contract 'a great deal' for Marshall Aerospacepublished at 16:00

    A new £369m contract to service RAF Hercules planes in Cambridge is "a great deal for the RAF, taxpayers, and Marshall Aerospace,"  according to a government minister.

    The agreement will mean the RAF's fleet of Hercules transport aircraft will continue to be serviced at Marshall Aerospace's Cambridge base.

    Philip Dunne, Minister of State for Defence Procurement, external, said the contract extends a "longstanding relationship".

  8. Storm Frank brings wet and windy weather to Cambridgeshirepublished at 15:30

    Fortunately, Cambridgeshire is escaping the worst of the weather, but hundreds of homes have been evacuated and thousands left without power in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

    Cambridgeshire Police say that in November 10 vehicles were seized and 18 people reported for hare coursing, external.

    Two teenagers accused of stealing artefacts from the Auschwitz death camp during a school trip should not be put on trial, a Holocaust survivor says.

    The Cambridge Perse school pupils, who were aged 17 at the time of the alleged theft, have withdrawn their admission of guilt, explaining they were not aware the items had special cultural significance.

    Eva Clarke, who lives in the city, was born shortly after her mother was moved from Auschwitz to Mauthausen concentration camp and says the boys should be given "the benefit of the doubt".

    Cambridgeshire Police say the death of a man, whose body was found in water at Impington yesterday, is not being treated as suspicious. 

    The body of a man in his 30s was recovered from Cawcutts Lake at 15:00 yesterday. The case has been passed to the coroner.

    A new £369m contract to service RAF Hercules planes in Cambridge will help keep the fleet operational until 2030, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) says.

    The support contract agreed with Marshall Aerospace will play a "crucial" role in extending the operational life of the aircraft, in line with the Government’s recent Strategic Defence and Security Review, the MoD said.

    Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue have just released images, external of the crews from Dogsthorpe and Chatteris in action at Sixteen Foot bank yesterday.

    After being retrieved from the river, the injured swan was handed over to Fenland Animal Rescue, external.

    A Cambridge woman whose family perished in Auschwitz says it is a "great shame," that two teenagers accused of stealing artefacts from the death camp, external, are set to face trial in Poland.

    The boys, from the independent Perse School in Cambridge, were allegedly seen picking up buttons and fragments of a spoon, during a school trip in June.

    Eva Clarke, who works for the Holocaust Educational Trust, external, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire she was "surprised" that they were likely to end up in court.
