    Archaeologists excavating Bronze Age dwellings at Must Farm, near Whittlesey, say they have uncovered details of what people were eating in Cambridgeshire 3,000 years ago.

    Fragments of food found in cooking pots suggest they were being used to make pottage.

    "Think porridge and add a few extra herby things, and if you were lucky you might have had honey to dollop in the middle," said Chris Gosden, professor of European archaeology at the University of Oxford.

    The vehicle has also been recovered and Highways England will soon start carrying out repairs to the carriageway.

  7. Researchers uncover story of World War One soldierpublished at 16:45

    Stretcher-bearer Alfred Davis is one of the World War One soldiers whose messages in a Peterborough visitors' book have just been published online.

    Researchers discovered the Peterborough man joined the army aged 18. He was discharged after losing a leg while rescuing a wounded officer at Ypres in May 1915 and went on to work as a railway signalman before he died in 1965.

    Volunteers have transcribed 570 comments in visitors' books kept in the tea room at Peterborough East railway station between 1916 and 1917.

    The road is closed southbound near junction 13.

    A bomb disposal team has been sent to the scene of a a fatal car fire on the M11 near Cambridge.  Police say this is because the vehicle exploded.

    A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Police told me that at this stage they are "not ruling anything out".

    The road remains closed southbound from Junction 13. One lane is also closed northbound at junction 12.

    The fire service has released this image from the scene of a crash on the B1040 near Pidley that left a man in his 20s with "life-threatening" injuries.

    Crews from Huntingdon and Chatteris were called to the collision, external involving two vehicles on Fenton Hill, at about 08:00.

    Messages left in a Peterborough visitors' book provide a "unique insight" into the thoughts and feelings of World War One troops.

    Hundreds of messages left in the tea room at Peterborough East railway station between 1916 and 1917 have been published online.

    Richard Hunt, archives manager for arts organisation Vivacity, which oversaw the project said: "Some are simple words of thanks; others talk of love and hope."

    The East of England Ambulance Service has offered some unusual advice to avoid falling over this winter... by making sure you trim your toe nails.

    The service has made a list of suggestions, external, saying it has already dealt with over 48,000 fall related calls since November. 

    As well as making sure your nails are cut, you are advised not to walk on slippery floors in socks or tights and to avoid loose-fitting clothes that you could trip on.
