  2. Man left with 'life threatening' injuries after B1040 crashpublished at 11:08

    A man in his 20s has been taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with "life threatening injuries" following a two-vehicle crash on the B1040 near Pidley.

    The ambulance service says three other people were discharged at the scene without injury. 

    Fenton Road remains closed.

    Junior doctors are returning to work at hospitals in Cambridgeshire after a 24-hour walkout came to an end at 08:00.

    Striking doctors at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge (above) told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire they believed they were supported by the public. 

    Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt described the walkout as "completely unnecessary" and urged junior doctors to return to the negotiating table.

    Police are using the third anniversary of the murder of Wisbech pensioner Una Crown to re-appeal for information.

    The 86-year-old widow was found dead at her bungalow on 13 January 2013. She had been stabbed and set on fire, but a murder investigation did not begin until four days later.

    In March 2015 a coroner criticised Cambridgeshire Police for hastily dismissing suspicious circumstances around her death.

    Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service says one man was killed in a car fire on the M11.

    Two crews from Cambridge were called to the fire on the M11 southbound, external near junction 12 for Barton.

    Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire.

    Police say there is no indication of a collision having taken place at the scene of a fatal car fire on the M11 near Cambridge, external.

    The Cambridgeshire force control room received a report of a car on fire on the southbound carriageway of the road near junction 12, for Barton, at 08:10.

    The emergency services have closed the M11 southbound between junction 12 and junction 11 near Cambridge following a fatal car fire.

    One lane on the northbound carriageway is also closed.

    Hundreds of messages written by servicemen as they passed through Peterborough to fight in World War One have been published for the first time.

    Many wrote in visitor books kept in the tea room at Peterborough East railway station between 1916 and 1917.

    A team of volunteers has transcribed the 570 entries which have been published online.
