    An image has been released by Cambridgeshire police of a man they want to talk to following a serious assault on a woman in Peterborough, external on Monday morning.

    Detectives want to talk to 48-year-old Valerijs Pudovs after a 27-year-old woman was left with serious injuries following the assault in Brynmore, Bretton.

    Police are warning members of the public not to approach Mr Pudovs, but to call them instead.

    Entrants have until midnight to write and send in their poem - which must be no longer than 40 lines. 

    The only criteria to enter is you have live, work or study in Fenland and write about the area.

    On 8 January £700 was taken from a charity pub quiz collection at the King's Arms, on St Mary's Street, Ely, along with £600 of staff wages. 

    In an earlier theft, cash was stolen from an upstairs flat at the Green Man in Market Hill, Royston on 26 September.

    Alan Burns, who took over as chairman of Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust last April, has responded to the latest Care Quality Commission report recommending the Huntingdon hospital stays in special measures.

    "Not surprisingly, the chief inspector of hospitals said he found a hospital in transition," Mr Burns told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

    "I'm not disputing anything the inspectors say; we certainly recognise the hospital the inspectors are describing. We recognise how well the staff have done in turning this hospital around and we recognise how much more we have to do."

  7. Wisbech rower nears end of Atlantic challengepublished at 09:15

    An ex-Forces amputee from Cambridgeshire is nearing the end of a rowing challenge for charity across the Atlantic, having been at sea for 40 days.

    Paddy Gallagher, from Wisbech (pictured right), lost his right leg below the knee while serving with the Irish Guards in a blast in Afghanistan in 2009. 

    He's part of a group of four believed to be the first all-amputee team to undertake the 3,000-mile (4,828km) Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge from the Canaries to Antigua. They are anticipated to arrive between 2 and 4 February.

    There needs to be an underpass or a bridge at the A10 Foxton level crossing, according to a councillor for the area.

    Network Rail has issued an apology following long delays at the crossing on Wednesday afternoon, external, when the barriers failed because of a faulty power pack. 

    Liberal Democrat county councillor Susan Van De Ven, said: "The road network around the crossing isn't capable of taking any more pressure." 

  9. Huntingdon hospital to remain in special measurespublished at 08:50

    Hinchingbrooke Hospital is to remain in special measures, despite receiving an improved grading by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

    The NHS trust running it has been in special measures since January 2015, after a damning report said services were neither caring nor well led, and provision for children was potentially unsafe.

    After a new inspection in October and November the trust received an overall rating of "Requires Improvement", but the CQC has recommended the hospital remains in special measures so it can continue to make "sustainable changes".
