    A man was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital after fire destroyed a house in Thorney last night, external.

    Incident commander, Sean Brown, said strong winds from Storm Imogen made it "a particularly difficult fire to tackle".

    The blaze started in the garage before spreading to the house.

    A large garage and house fire at Thorney last night was "exacerbated by strong winds", according to the fire service.

    About 60 firefighters were called to the blaze on the Causeway at Thorney at 18:00.

    The garage contained a number of classic cars which were all burnt out. The cause was accidental.

    Residents who repeatedly misuse recycling bins could have them confiscated, under plans being proposed by Huntingdonshire District Council.

    Councillors will discuss introducing a new football-style red card system to target people who put general rubbish in their recycling bins. 

    Council leader Jason Ablewhite denied the move was draconian, saying offenders would be issued with two yellow cards first.

    The Labour MP for Cambridge, Daniel Zeichner, has branded a review of the collapse the £800m UnitingCare contract "inadequate".

    Health consortium UnitingCare started to supply older people and adult community healthcare in Cambridgeshire in April, but pulled out of the NHS contract early in December.

    NHS England announced an independent investigation into the collapse. But Daniel Zeichner believes it will not go far enough, and will raise his concerns with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt later today.
