    There are concerns a new housing development near Peterborough could suffer from the same fate as the Hamptons housing project, which waited 10 years before facilities promised were built. 

    Roxhill, near the A1(M), was originally signposted as a business park, but now over 600 homes could also be built on part of the site.

    In Hampton, residents waited a decade for infrastructure projects to be constructed, but councillors set to make a decision on the planning application, external this afternoon are promising the same mistakes won't be repeated.

    A Fenland village is to revert back to its original name after officials gave the idea the green light.

    For hundreds of years a little village near Wisbech, with a population of 600, was known as Newton-in-the Isle, external, but at some point the name was changed to just Newton.

    People are being advised not to give out their details for an event which claims to be coming to Cambridge later in the year.

    The 'Total Wipeout Tour' has been advertised using photographs from the BBC television show, which is filmed in Argentina and has nothing to do with the purported event. 

    Details of the tour appeared on Facebook until it was removed amid fears names and addresses were being collected to sell on to marketing companies.

    A doctor has backed calls for all parents to learn first aid after a toddler from Warboys, who had a fit, was resuscitated by a neighbour.

    Dr Mike Knapton, associate medical director at the British Heart Foundation and a Cambridge GP, said: "There are about 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests per year and the chances of surviving at the moment are less than 1 in 10.

    "The patient has already died by the time the emergency services get there."

    The planning committee at Peterborough City Council will decide this afternoon if houses, rather than a business park, should be built on a development near the A1.

    It had been hoped that the development at Roxhill, opposite the Peterborough Services, would create jobs for local residents, but now it could be that 610 homes are built instead. 

    Those opposed to the housing say there are not enough jobs for people, or any schools.

    The road policing unit for Cambridgeshire tweeted yesterday that they had arrested a driver carrying a bag of cannabis in Huntingdon.

    This news comes as the force undergoes a two-month campaign, external to tackle drug-driving.

    Fancy freshening up your walls? Well an art lending library is now open in Peterborough.

    Users can hire pieces of art and display it in their homes for free for up to a week as part of the project, external, which has previously visited Sunderland and Glasgow.

    The library will be based at arts organisation Metal's building, just behind Peterborough town hall, until 24 March.

    A couple from Warboys whose toddler was saved by a St John Ambulance trainer is urging all parents to learn first aid. 

    Kirsty and Lewis Mulholland nearly lost their son Buddy at the end of January, when he suffered a convulsion, began fitting and stopped breathing.

    The mother dashed across to her neighbour Jim Smith, who works for St John Ambulance. He started resuscitation and soon got him breathing again. Kirsty says Jim is her "guardian angel" and the couple have signed up to learn first aid for children.
