    The car was found at March Road near Tipps End on 3 March, after a member of the public alerted Fenland Police, external.

    A 66-year-old man from March has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

  5. Trains resume between Peterborough and London but services remain delayedpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 29 March 2016

    Commuters should expect delays of up to 90 minutes to services between Peterborough and London.

    Network Rail says it follows disruption, external in the Sandy area - and does not expect services to get back to normal until about 19:00.

    Small children and grandparents rejoice - Thomas is due to return to work in June, after a £150,000, two-year renovation programme.

    The engine has been owned by the Nene Valley Railway in Wansford, external since the 1970s.

    His boiler, wheels and tank has been overhauled - and he's also received a new coat of paint.

  10. Fatal Somersham fire 'not suspicious' say policepublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 29 March 2016

    A fire which killed two people in Somersham is not being treated as suspicious, Cambridgeshire Police has confirmed, external.

    Firefighters spent three hours tackling the blaze at Queens Road on Monday evening. The bodies of a man and a woman were discovered at the scene.  

    The coroner has now been informed.

    New figures show 17 children in Cambridgeshire were arrested for suspected gun crime offences, with more than 1,500 children arrested across the country in the past three years, some of them as young as ten.

    A Freedom of Information request from the Press Association saw 29 police forces responding with statistics. 

    A third of all the children were actually charged. In Suffolk 16 minors were arrested, while Norfolk there were four child arrests. 

  12. Bedford via Sandy to Cambridge is East West Rail link's 'preferred route'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 29 March 2016

    The return of direct train travel between Oxford, Cambridge and East Anglia has inched a little closer, after the "preferred route" was announced a short while ago.

    Network Rail's Erica Blamire, external says 20 alternatives were examined - and Bedford via Sandy to Cambridge "offers the best return on investment".

    More details will be announce in May.

  14. Investigation under way after two die in Somersham house firepublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 29 March 2016

    Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue is investigating the cause of a fire at a house in Somersham which left two people dead.

    The blaze broke out in Queens Road at about 20:00 on Monday. Firefighters spend three hours tackling the fire and neighbours had to be evacuated from their homes.

    Police said a man and woman in the house died at the scene.

  16. Third of staff library jobs axed in Cambridgeshirepublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 29 March 2016

    A third of staff jobs gone in Cambridgeshire’s libraries, from 282 to 190 in the past six years.

    A BBC Freedom of Information investigation found that nationally, almost 8,000 jobs in UK libraries have disappeared, about a quarter of the overall total. 

    In the east of England, figures show the number of volunteers working in libraries have risen, by 71%, from 3,301 to 5,650, while five libraries have closed and 18 mobile services have been withdrawn.

    Police have confirmed, external a man and a woman died in the blaze in Queen’s Road, Somersham yesterday.

    Neighbouring houses were evacuated while fire officers tackled the fire, which was well alight by the time police and fire crews arrive on the scene around 20:00.

    Two people died in a house fire in Somersham on Monday.

    Crews were called to the fire on Queens Road just before 20:00 to find the house well alight.

    An investigation is under way, external to determine the cause of the fire. 

  20. Fire at hotel closes bridgepublished at 10:25 British Summer Time 29 March 2016

    The fire service, external has confirmed the fire that's closed the bridge between Huntingdon and Godmanchester is at the Old Bridge Hotel.

    Crews were called at around 08:15 and are currently trying to put out a fire in one of the chimneys.

    Two crews are there and no one has been injured.
