BBC NewsCambridge photographer Martin Bond was as stumped as other city centre motorists on Sunday when he spotted these bizarre diversion signs.
Image source, Martin BondAs the Cambridge News reported, they were set out by contractors working on the Kettle's Yard , externaldevelopment on Northampton Street.
"I didn't stop to ask them why, as I was late for lunch at my mum's," Martin told the BBC. "But all the drivers looked totally confused except for a chap in a Porsche, who just ignored them all and drove straight through."

BBC NewsThe role a large house in Cambridgeshire played in finding out the state of German knowledge of how to develop a nuclear bomb in the Second World War has been highlighted in a new book.

The building was wired up with bugs so any conversations could be heard and the British learned how far away the Germans were from developing a bomb.

Huntingdon's business group, BID, says it's confident the town is on the up now that work is finally under way on the Chequer's Court retail development.
The former tax office site was demolished three years ago and local independent shops have complained delays to building was having a negative impact on footfall.

However, there are no indications yet as to when the carriageway will reopen.

The Melbourn family of a missing junior doctor, whose body is thought to have been found in the sea off Dorset, have thanked people for "the continued love and support" they have received.
Rose Polge, 25, who worked at Torbay Hospital in Devon, has not been seen since 12 February.
A body was recovered from the sea east of Portland Bill on 1 April, but it has not yet been formally identified. The hospital said it was "deeply saddened".

Thirteen operations have been cancelled and people who need treatment for minor illnesses and injury are being asked to choose another option instead by calling 111.

BBC NewsA Cambridge University researcher has failed in her bid to overturn a conviction for fraud over her attempt to take back a "bogus" £30 shirt ordered online to Topshop.
Annie Hoxhalli, 28, of Hills Road, Cambridge, was found guilty at Peterborough Crown Court of fraud by false representation and given a two-year conditional discharge.
She appealed to the High Court and her barrister, Craig Rush, argued the guilty verdict was "unsafe" because of gaps in the evidence and flaws in the trial judge's summing-up.
But this was rejected today. Appeal Court judge Lady Justice Sharp, said: "We do not accept that the prosecution of Hoxhalli, or the case that was presented against her at trial, was flawed or suffered from a crucial evidential gap."
A1 crash: Latest from ambulance servicepublished at 15:05

BBC NewsWe've just received some more news from the ambulance service about this crash on the A1 west of Peterborough.
Image source, GoogleIt said it happened at just before midday on the northbound carriageway near Wittering.
Two ambulances and the air ambulance arrived. The male driver of the lorry, which crashed with two other vehicles, had suffered life-threatening injuries - despite treatment, he died at the scene.
We have yet to be told whether anyone else was hurt.

BBC TravelThe A1 is shut northbound near Wansford, with queuing traffic and long delays on the A1 and the A47 approach from Peterborough following the earlier accident.
Diversions are via the A47 westbound to Duddington and the A43 northbound towards Stamford.

BBC NewsThe UK government has called for a "full and transparent investigation" into the murder of an Italian student from Cambridge University.
Image source, EPAThe body of Giulio Regeni, which showed clear signs of torture, was dumped beside a road near Cairo on 3 February.
A petition demanding the UK government intervenes has now reached 10,000 signatures, meaning it must respond. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the case had been raised with the Egyptian authorities.
