  2. Radio presenter designs mum's care packagepublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2017

    BBC Inside Out

An increasing number of people are taking on the responsibility of caring for an elderly parent.

One of those doing so is BBC radio presenter Sue Marchant

Sue promised her dying father that her 90-year-old mother Elinor wouldn't be left alone, and that she'd look after her where they live in Cambridgeshire.

She decided to design a bespoke care package for her, rather than paying for the package provided by the county council.

Her mum needs at least two visits a day. Sue has found an agency that does hour-long visits and has also built in social calls from the Age UK care warden and a friend.

You can find out how she gets on by watching Inside Out, on BBC One in the East, at 19:30.

You may have seen the story on Friday that the 07:55 Cambridge to King's Cross departure board used the word "thence" to describe the journey the train would be making.

We put the story on the Look East Facebook page, external and it appears the general consensus was that it was a great use of the word and should be used more...

    • Sylvia Bettsworth - Would be great to see old words used and cheer us all up bit.
    • Holly Ruston - I've got no issue with it, what's the big deal?
    • Sue Day - Wonderful! There should be more like this.
    • Tim Young - I think it is lovely to see a broader range of vocabulary used. I would encourage them to use as many different words as possible. (As long as the average traveller can make sense of them of course).
    • Maggie Parker - I think it's really charming - wish we had 'thenced' to Durham from x's cross the other day.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia, which runs the station, said: "The word 'thence' was added to one destination board. It is the first and last time it will be used at a Greater Anglia station."

Which may come as a disappointment to some...

Police say they've identified a man they want to speak to over the theft of a car that had a 10-month-old baby inside.

The baby's mother left her child in a silver Volvo outside a shop on London Road, Kimbolton, at about 15:30 on Wednesday while she briefly went inside.

The baby was recovered "safe and well", according to police.

No arrests have yet been made.

    Adam Jinkerson
    BBC Local Live

A local MP has been responding to US President Donald Trump's decision to halt immigration on all nationals from seven Muslim-majority countries and indefinitely banning all Syrian refugees.

British Prime Minister Theresa May was criticised for refusing to condemn the ban, but Downing Street later released a statement disagreeing "with this kind of approach".

Speaking on Sunday Politics yesterday, South Cambridgeshire MP Heidi Allen said Mrs May "should have said something sooner".

    Heidi Allen on Sunday Politics

"It's entirely right that the PM has come out and said this isn't appropriate. It's not something we agree with in our government," she said.

"But I do wish she'd have said something at the time, not least because it affects our citizens."

However, when pushed on an issue of a petition that's calling for the president's state visit to be postponed, Mrs Allen said "he is the leader of America - like it or not, he needs to come to the UK".
