  1. Europe becomes 'hub' for child sexual abuse contentpublished at 09:41 British Summer Time 3 April 2017

A report by a Cambridge-based charity has found that Europe is becoming the global hub for the hosting of child sexual abuse images and videos.

The annual report by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), located near Waterbeach, found that 60% of worldwide abuse material was now in Europe - an increase of 19%.

The Netherlands topped the list of European nations hosting the illegal content, said the IWF.

Improved reporting and policing by ISPs in North America are believed to have driven the shift.

"The situation is reversed from previous years," said Susie Hargreaves, the charity's chief executive.

"Europe is now the biggest host of child sexual abuse imagery, rather than North America."

The IWF report said about 34,212 web pages were found to be displaying abuse content in Europe - which also includes Russia and Turkey.

Ms Hargreaves said the shift "could reflect the great work taking place by the US industry to tackle the problem" that had forced criminals to look elsewhere for hosts that would let them upload and share content.

The IWF is the UK body that acts to find and remove abuse content from UK networks.

  2. Boat Races: Oxford men triumph over Cambridgepublished at 09:05 British Summer Time 3 April 2017

However, there was disappointment for the Cambridge men's crew, as Oxford made it four wins in five years in the 163rd Boat Race.

Oxford led throughout and although Cambridge tried to stay in touch, they were unable to get past the Dark Blues, who finished in a time of 16 minutes 59 seconds.

  3. Boat Races: Cambridge women jump on mistakepublished at 09:04 British Summer Time 3 April 2017

    BBC Sport

Cambridge took advantage of a dreadful start by Oxford to claim a first win in the Women's Boat Race since 2012.

Oxford's Rebecca Esselstein made an error with her oar, known as "catching a crab", and her crew never recovered.

It allowed the Light Blues, featuring four members of last year's crew who almost sank on the river, to quickly get into their rhythm.

They dominated to win by 11 lengths, in a course record of 18 minutes and 33 seconds.

"Catching a crab" is where a rower loses control of their oar and does not remove it from the water at the end of the stroke, meaning the oar acts as a brake.
