  19. Public consultation to decide preferred busway routepublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 21 September 2017

A public consultation will help to identify which of three preferred routes is selected as the final option.

One is an off-road busway through countryside, avoiding the A428 and A1303, while a bus lane following the A428 and A1303 into Cambridge as far as Lady Margaret Way is also shortlisted.

A third option is for an alternative on-road option - which would allow buses to travel in either direction depending on conditions - for the A1303 west of the M11.

Francis Burkit, chair of the Greater Cambridge Partnership executive board which is leading the project, said: "We as the board do not have a preferred route because we are totally neutral but we will put the options out for public consultation before Christmas."

Another guided busway, which connects Cambridge with Huntingdon and St Ives, opened in 2011.

  20. Police make appeal for 'puppy fosterers'published at 10:28 British Summer Time 21 September 2017

The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police Dog Unit are asking members of the public to become 'puppy fosterers'.

The force says it is looking for temporary homes, external for dogs as young as eight to 10 weeks old to live in until they are ready to begin training, at which point they would live with their handler.

Although the roles are voluntary, officers say they would provide "essential supplies" such as food, veterinary treatment and a crate.

The dog training team will also work with successful applicants on implementing a training plan for the puppies.
