It's one of four art works due to be installed by the end of November as the final part of the £2.1m works to improve the city centre street.

Penn had a foundry at this site near the river more than 300 years ago. His works include the hour bell at Peterborough Cathedral which is still in use today.

The other artworks in the project, which has been funded by the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership, external, include an information panel with a biography of Penn and a map of the county plotting the bells made by his foundry and three timber posts with riverside themed carvings.

There will also be a timber raised planter with designs representing the old quayside next to the foundry, where the bells were loaded onto barges to be taken to churches across the county.

They are due to be installed by the end of November and is the final piece of the regeneration works.
