  2. Wildlife trust buys Bubbenhall Wood and Meadowpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

    Bubbenhall Wood and Meadow has been purchased by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust after attracting funding from several charities and trusts.

    They say it will allow them to create a 205-hectare area of woodland and meadow joining Ryton Wood to the north east, through Bubbenhall Wood and then onto Wappenbury Wood and Old Nun Wood in the south east. 

  3. Violence against hospital staff 'unacceptable', says chief execpublished at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

    One in five workers responding to a staff survey at George Eliot Hospital says they've experienced physical violence from patients, relatives or the public.

    Describing the figures as "unacceptable", the hospital's chief executive, Kath Kelly, said she would be looking at how to "further protect our frontline staff".

    In Sunday Politics Midlands, BBC One on 6 March, I'll be joined by Local MP Jeremy Wright as his seat is set to be redesigned yet again.

    When he was first elected in 2005 he was the Conservative MP for Rugby and Kenilworth but in 2010, with boundaries redrawn, he switched to Kenilworth and Southam.

    Now it is set to be redesigned yet again, straddling the border between Warwickshire and the West Midlands as the new seat of Kenilworth and Dorridge.

    Grace Academy in Coventry has been taken out of special measures following a recent Ofsted inspection.

    The report says the school in Wigston Road has strengthened its senior leadership which has helped it improve.

  10. Coventry's Woodlands Academy 'unviable'published at 16:29 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

    A letter outlining proposals to create a new academy in Coventry, external says because of a decrease in parents choosing single sex education, boy's school Woodlands Academy is now "unviable" in its current guise.

    A six-week consultation has been launched into the creation of the West Coventry Academy, based on the site of the current Tile Hill Wood school.

    The two schools already have a co-educational sixth form, but it's not yet clear whether staff from the boys school would transfer to the new academy under the proposed merger.

    A teenager who carried out a "horrific" practical joke on a work colleague at a local wedding venue has been sentenced to 18-months in youth custody, external.

    Brandon Nicholas Walker (19) of Orchard Close, Hurley, had placed a needle inside the drinking straw of a work colleague at Shustoke Farm Barns in Coleshill.

  14. Sexual exploitation in Coventry park 'deeply disturbing', says NSPCCpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

    The NSPCC says a report into child sex exploitation in Edgwick Park in Coventry, external is "deeply disturbing" but it welcomes the action being taken to tackle it.

    The police and council plan to introduce a protection order at the park that would prohibit groups congregating.

    It follows concerns over risks to children's safety, including men offering drugs to young people to get them to have sex with them.

    Wasps have announced 26-year-old hooker Tom Cruse will join the club from London Irish ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
