    The Sky Blues' on-loan defender Baily Cargill has returned to his parent club, Bournemouth, for treatment on an ankle injury and is expected to miss tomorrow's match at Shrewsbury.

    Cargill was substituted at half time during the defeat against Rochdale. 

    Coventry manager Tony Mowbray says he's waiting to find out the full extent of the injury.

  3. Pedestrian hit by police car: Investigation under waypublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Here's more on this afternoon's breaking story:

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission has launched an independent investigation after a police car hit and seriously injured a pedestrian.

    Investigators have been deployed to the scene.

    Witnesses can contact the IPCC on 0300 020 0096.

  4. Clampdown on drivers clogging up safe havenspublished at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Motorists using emergency lay-bys on the M42 for a rest or eat are to be targeted, external by motorway police. 

    Officers say the practice is becoming more common with vehicles clogging up the breakdown bays and preventing access to drivers in trouble.

    Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group say they'll start handing out on-the-spot fines for culprits and arresting anyone who can't or refuses to pay, seizing offending vehicles.

    The head teacher of a Coventry secondary school has apologised over the way parents and staff found out about the consultation, external on the closure of Woodlands Academy and the creation of a new West Coventry Academy.

    On the school's website, Gina O'Connor said a leak of information meant news reached media before letters had been sent out to parents. 

    As part of the consultation they've set up a series of open mornings, external for Year 6 and Year 9 pupils to visit the school.

    The ambulance service says the woman seriously injured in a collision with a police car was anaesthetised by a trauma doctor at the scene.

    The doctor then travelled in an ambulance with the patient to University Hospital in Coventry.

  10. Dunchurch Road to remain closedpublished at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Dunchurch Road will remain closed for the foreseeable future after a police car hit a pedestrian.

    Closures affect the Shakespeare Gardens junction, Kingsway junction and Harris Lane off Overslade Lane.

    This affects both pedestrian and vehicle access.

    Police say they were on their way to attend an emergency on the A45 in Stretton-on-Dunsmore when one of their cars was in a serious collision with a pedestrian.

    The Warwickshire Police officer who was driving was not injured.  

    The matter has been referred to the IPCC.

    A pedestrian has been seriously injured after a collision with a police car on Dunchurch Road, Rugby

    The woman, in her 20s, has severe head injuries, Warwickshire Police say.

    Ballroom dancer Stan Pitt says he has "very happy memories" of dancing at the former Leofric Hotel ballroom.

    Plans have been submitted to turn the property into an indoor climbing centre.

    He says at the height of its popularity, Coventry had at least nine ballrooms and this is the last one.

    "I danced there a lot with my wife, it was a beautiful dance hall and it will be very very sad to see it go."

  15. Ice Hockey: Coventry Blaze players make GB long-list squadpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Three Coventry Blaze players have been named in the Great Britain, external 37-man long-list for next month's world championship in Zagreb.

    Once again, Blaze captain Ashley Tait and teammates Russ Cowley and Ross Venus will be involved.

    Head coach Pete Russell will cut his squad down to 28 for the pre-championships training camp, which starts on 6 April.

  16. Road to Coventry: New classic car run announcedpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Coventry is to play host to a new classic vehicle run, as part of the city's Motofest, external event.

    The Road to Coventry is open to cars built before 1992, which will drive in cavalcade on the Ring Road circuit.

    Last year around 100,000 people visited the city to see stock cars, classic cars and motorbikes displayed in the city.

    A disgraced nurse who describes himself as "Jonny Botox" has been secretly filmed at a Wolverhampton "Botox party" offering to inject an undercover BBC reporter.

    Jonathan Henk injected three women before offering to give a reporter as much Botox as she wanted.

    He later admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong.

    Two disgraced nurses are making thousands of pounds a week illegally prescribing Botox to patients.

    A BBC investigation has uncovered the two men staging "Botox parties" across homes and beauty salons in the West Midlands for people desperate to banish wrinkles.

    While they were once registered nurses, both have been ordered to stop practising - making it illegal for them to prescribe medicine.
