    A motorcyclist died in an accident with a car on the Stratford Road , externalat Wootton Warwen, Henley-in-Arden last night. 

    The ambulance service say the man suffered a cardiac arrest in the crash, which happened shortly after 20:30.

    Labour's candidate, Julie Jackson, external, is deputy leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and a county councillor for Warwickshire.

    She says people are telling her they want a high visibility police force which, she says, isn't the case at the moment.

    Her top priority will be to have police officers at the front line for fighting crime which offers protection and makes people feel safer.

    Independent candidate David Whitehouse, external is a former Ch Supt of Warwickshire Police. He retired in 2007 after serving 35 years.

    His campaign is driven by his experience as an officer, and says with his background he can fullfill the role of commissioner with "knowledge and confidence".

    He's concerned about the financial cuts that have been made since he left the force and says the lack of visible policing has been noticeable, and he wants to make improvements.

    Fire crews from Kenilworth and Rugby have been working with a vet to free a horse stuck in a ditch in Rouncil Lane, external in Kenilworth.

    They were called at 07:40  to help the animal, which was stuck in a ditch full of water.

    Vendon Wright is England's only blind Taekwondo Master, maintaining this level for more than 20 years.

    He has been going progressively blind since the age of 21 and now has no vision at all.

    Despite this, he still teaches Taekwondo to classes of all ages in his home town of Rugby.

    Philip Seccombe, standing as the Conservative candidate, external for PCC, is a local businessman, a district councillor and served in the Warwickshire Yeomanry for 25 years with a spell as commanding officer.

    He says he wantes to make Warwickshire a "safer place to live, work and visit".

    "Crime is too high and I want to assist our police to reduce it by increasing their numbers and making them more visible," he said.

  11. Woman died in M6 crashpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 26 April 2016

    A woman in her 30s died in an accident on the M6, external in the early hours of Saturday.

    It happened on the northbound carriageway between junctions one and two and involved a Ford Fiesta, a Nissan and a Vauxhall.

    Police say a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently on bail until 10 June.

  12. New home for Shakespeare statue sought due to 'driver distraction' fearspublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 26 April 2016

    An 8ft (2.4m) statue of Shakespeare has yet to find a home after being deemed distracting for motorists in Stratford upon Avon. 

    The application to put James Butler's statue on a traffic island, in Bridge Street, was withdrawn earlier this year.

    Warwickshire County Council said the location, which serves five roads, was "unsuitable" on highway safety grounds. 

    Mr Butler, 84, who has sculptured the Queen, had wanted it to be part of the weekend's Shakespeare celebrations. 

  13. Striking junior doctors join picket line in Warwickpublished at 12:27

    About a dozen doctors have joined the picket line at Warwick Hospital.

    The hospital says consultants have stepped in to ensure patient safety, but over the 24-hour period 22 clinics and 29 elective operations have been cancelled, affecting hundreds of patients.
