The University of Warwick has awarded a posthumous honorary degree to the former deputy leader of Coventry City Council Phil Townshend who died last November.
He'll be honoured as part of the University's Summer Degree awards, which will also honour the former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and Anita Bhalla, who started the BBC's Asian Network.

Co-Captains Matt Mullan and James Haskell are joined by Joe Launchbury, Elliott Daly and new arrival for next season, Tommy Taylor.
The test is a one-off game between Wales and England - played at Twickenham - and is the last chance for both sides to play in Europe before their summer tours to New Zealand and Australia.

BBC Local LiveThe Department for Education has released a statement on the closure of Woodlands Academy in Coventry.
It says "Our priority is to ensure pupils at Woodlands and Tile Hill Wood Trusts receive a high quality education."
"The schools have listened to parents and the local community," it continues, "and will now work together to bring in the new arrangements in the best interests of pupils."

Coventry City Council says it's accepted Syrian refugees "that have experienced some of the worst aspects of human behaviour" because "it's the right thing to do".
Cllr Abdul Khan, deputy leader, says 194 Syrians taken in by the city since July 2014 have included refugees "with significant medical needs" and a number of families affected by the violence of conflict in Syria.

Coventry City Council has accepted 105 people between October and March under the Government's expanded resettlement programme.
The 71 local authorities so far in the scheme had shown a "tremendous amount of goodwill", the Home Office said.

A Coventry man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with a Syria-related terrorism offence.
Ahmad Ismail, 19, from Portwrinkle Avenue, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London alongside two others accused of trying to join so-called Islamic State fighters.
He is accused of failing to disclose information to police of the alleged plot.
All three men were remanded in custody and ordered to appear at the Old Bailey on June 23.

A drink-driver who caused the death of a motorcyclist in Wootton Wawen last month has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Craig Allen, 35 of Baker Avenue, Stratford-upon-Avon, pleaded guilty at Coventry Crown Court yesterday to causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol.

Coventry City Council says the agenda and reports, to be discussed by councillors next week in relation to membership of a combined authority, were "published in line with legislation and the Constitution".
The Conservative opposition is calling for a postponement of the meeting, saying the paperwork reached them "outside the time limit".
In a statement, the council said all councillors were "offered and accepted full briefings" on the issue, and the latest report, including all recommendations, was published on Tuesday afternoon, a week before the meeting.

BBC Local LiveThe Conservative opposition on Coventry City Council is calling for the postponement of a key meeting to ratify the city joining the West Midlands Combined Authority, external.
Opposition leader John Blundell says they've only just received vital paperwork for the meeting, due to be held next Tuesday.
He said information on the 12 resolutions "which have significal impact on the city" reached them "outside of the time limit" and it was unfair to proceed.
