    CCTV images have been released by police of three people they'd like to trace in connection with the theft of money and a debit card, external from a shopper's handbag in Nuneaton.

    They say it happened while the victim was at a supermarket on Newton Road in April.

    Detectives want to speak to two men and a woman.

    The Government has approved the closure of Coventry boys school, Woodlands Academy. 

    After a second consultation, it backed the decision of school governors and the regional Schools Commissioner, meaning the site will shut at the end of the school year in 2017. 

    Woodlands has been declared unviable because of a drop in demand for single-sex education.  

    Under plans, all-girls school Tile Hill Wood will re-open as a co-educational West Coventry Academy.

  4. Children to celebrate Bedworth 'Bun Day'published at 11:43 British Summer Time 27 May 2016

    Around 1,000 Bedworth school children will celebrate Founder’s Day - better known as Bun Day - at the town's Almshouses today.

    Children from the three schools of The Nicholas Chamberlaine School Foundation will gather in the quadrangle to remember the generosity of benefactor Nicholas Chamberlaine, who died in 1715.

    Before returning to their schools, each child is given a sticky bun.

  5. Coventry has taken highest number of Syrian refugees under resettlement schemepublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 27 May 2016

    Coventry has taken the highest number of Syrian refugees in the UK, according to Home Office figures.

    The city council accepted 105 people between October and March under the Government's expanded resettlement programme.

    A total of 71 local authorities have accepted 1,602 Syrians during the same period.

    A Coventry man is due in court today charged with a Syria-related terrorism offence

    Ahmad Ismail, 19, from Portwrinkle Avenue, is accused of failing to disclose information to the police of an offence involving the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism. 

    He'll appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court alongside two other men from the West Midlands arrested last week.

    After a winning start at Trent Bridge last Friday night, Ronchi says: "I can't wait. The crowds really came out for the first T20 of the season at Nottingham. That was fantastic and we're hoping we can get another win under our belts".
