    The family of murdered Nuneaton man Morgan Hehir say they've been "overwhelmed by so much love" from Morgan's friends, work colleagues and whole town, and they'll be "eternally grateful".

    Reacting to the sentencing of three men for his murder last year, they said the killers "changed everything in our lives", but, they continue, "with the help of our friends and family we have managed to get through these very dark times".

    They've also released a video tribute to Morgan.

  8. Family begin sentence of 'life without Morgan'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    The family of Morgan Hehir have thanked the Crown Prosecution Service and the police for leading a successful prosecution of his killers.

    "We welcome the sentence of life imprisonment imposed on Declan Gray" they said "but we also feel we have begun our life sentence of 'life without Morgan'."

    Declan Gray, Karlton Gray and Simon Rowbotham were all handed prison sentences for killing the 20-year-old in a Nuneaton street.

    A man's in hospital after being attacked near a leisure centre at Primrose Hill , externalin the Hillfields area of Coventry, say police.

    They think the assault may have happened on Berry Street where the 26-year-old man staggered into an alleyway before collapsing on Oxford Street at about 04:00 yesterday.

    DC James Birtles, from Coventry's Violent Crime Team, said: "We are dealing with a very serious assault, the man has undergone surgery for his injuries and continues to be treated.".

    They're appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

    Figures out today suggest a growing number of GP jobs in Coventry and Warwickshire are being covered by temporary doctors because there are so many vacancies.

    On one day last year, 15 locum GPs were working across Coventry and Rugby, according to data analysis by BBC News.

    The ambulance service has issued an update on three serious crashes, external they attended in Rugby this morning.

    * A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a serious neck injury as well as cuts and bruises after he was hit by a car outside his school in Newbold Road

    * A motorcyclist, believed to be in his 50s, was treated for injuries to his chest, abdomen, pelvis, back and shoulder after a collision with a car which closed the A426 for a time

    * Earlier in the morning, at 07:57, a cyclist was treated for a head injury and suspected fractured elbow after being thrown over his handlebars when he struck a stationary car in Viaduct Road

  13. Aviva Woman's Tour in Warwickshire: Race day routepublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    Sixteen of the world’s top female cycling teams, made up of 96 of the world’s best women cyclists, will take part in the Aviva Women’s Tour stage 2 in Warwickshire on Thursday. 

    The 140km stage starts at 09:45 in Atherstone before passing through Kenilworth and Warwick ending in Stratford-upon-Avon at about 14:00.

  14. Three jailed for 'ferocious and concerted' attack which killed manpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    Morgan Hehir, from Nuneaton, was fatally stabbed in the town on 31 October in what the police describe as a "tragic, vicious and unprovoked" attack.

    In sentencing the killers at Warwick Crown Court today, Judge Griffith-Jones said it was a "ferocious and concerted" attack on Mr Hehir and his group of friends.

  17. Pedestrian seriously injured in Coventry hit-and-runpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

    A woman is still in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a van which failed to stop, external in Coventry on 6 June, say police.

    The collision, involving a white Transit van, happened at 21:55 on Binley Road, in Stoke, near the junction of Phoenix Way.

    The 35-year-old woman suffered serious facial and back injuries.

    At the height of production, Coventry's Banner Lane site employed more than 6,000 people and in 10 years produced more than 500,000 Ferguson TE tractors for export all over the world.
