    On-loan defender Mark Ellis has told BBC Radio Cumbria Sport he would be interested in joining Carlisle United from Shrewsbury permanently.

    The 27-year-old should be involved in Sunday's FA Cup tie at Welling, having extended his loan into the new year.  

  3. West Cumbria floods: 'Drains overwhelmed'published at 11:55

    Flash floods inundated homes, roads and a railway line in a small area of West Cumbria last night. It was just too much rain in a short period, according to the Environment Agency.

    The A595 is still closed while Highways England engineers deal with flooding between Thursby Roundabout in Allerdale and Belle Vue Roundabout in Papcastle.

  5. Ancient cables to be replaced in Grangepublished at 11:24

      Electricity cables dating back to the 1930s are to be replaced in Grange-over-Sands.

    Less than one mile of cable is involved, but it supplies nearly 1,000 people and replacing it will cost £137,000.  Work should start in the new year.  

  6. Landslips and flood waters block rail linepublished at 11:06

    Network Rail says two landslips and four lots of flood water are blocking the Cumbria coast line between Carlisle and Workington.

    Northern Rail's running replacement buses, but that service has been hampered because some roads are still flooded.

    Martin Frobisher, Network Rail's route managing director, said they are trying get services running as soon as possible, but they can only reopen the line once engineers are certain it is safe.  

  7. Boy band star Matt Pagan sings for hospicepublished at 10:36

    The Carlisle singer Matt Pagan, who's a member of the boyband Collabro, is giving a special performance at the city's Sands Centre tonight.

    Matt says the hospice cared for his grandfather before he died in 2013.

  9. Mother faces deportation after 10 yearspublished at 09:59

    A woman living in Carlisle says she's living in fear of being deported because of a three-year delay in processing her application to stay in the UK.

    Nadiya McWhirter has been in the UK for almost 10 years, arriving on a work visa, which has now lapsed. 

    Since then she's had two children and married their British father.

    In a statement the Home Office told BBC Radio Cumbria that all applications are considered on their individual merits, including any exceptional circumstances, and in line with the immigration rules.  Those found to have no right to be in the UK will be asked to leave.

    The B5300 Main Street is closed between the Wigton Road junction in Allonby and the A596 junction in Maryport, because of flooding.

    The A689 in Carlisle is blocked at the Kingmoor Road junction because of flooding. 

    The A595 is closed at Wigton because of flooding.  All A595 traffic is being diverted via the A596.

  14. Flooding clean-up in West Cumbriapublished at 08:15

    Flash flooding swept water into homes and over roads in West Cumbria last night.

    Fire crews received 220 calls between 17:30 and 22:00.  Maryport and Flimby were particularly badly hit.

  15. Travel: A595 closed, and disruption on trains between Carlisle and West Cumbriapublished at 08:05

    A landslip at Wigton's closed the tracks west of Carlisle. Replacement buses are running to Workington.

    On the roads, the A595 is closed in both directions between Belle Vue Roundabout in Cockermouth and Thursby Roundabout in Thursby.  

    And Cross Country trains into Scotland are disrupted because of problems on the Frth Road crossing.
