    River levels are due to peak now across the county - with warnings that flooding is possible in Kendal, Burneside, Keswick, Egremont, Wigton, Dalton, Ulverston and Cummersdale.

    People are being warned not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary as many roads are impassible.

    Cumbria Fire and Rescue say they've dealt with more than 30 incidents related to flooding since this morning. Keep listening to BBC Cumbria to stay up-to-date.

    Much of tonight will remain mild and wet with further heavy rain and strong winds.

    These winds will ease and through the early hours, the rain will move away. Clearer skies will spread in allowing a late dip in temperatures.

    Minimum Temperature: 4C (39F).

    The Environment Agency are busy putting sandbags out. Levels are expected to peak at 18:00.

  8. Flooding: Round-up of how the county is affectedpublished at 16:45 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    Heavy rainfall has caused flooding which is affecting parts of Cumbria. Here's a round up of what's happening:

    • The Environment Agency has issued 12 flood warnings and 18 flood alerts for Cumbria
    • Twenty two schools were closed.
    • Travel is affected - with many roads closed and disruption on the trains
    • Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service have dealt with 30 flood-related incidents and are still dealing with five
    • Sandbags have been made available by councils
    • People are being warned not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary

    Roads across the county are being affected by flooding - with many being closed or barely passable.

  15. Flooding: Fire crews sent to Keswick and Wigtonpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service says crews have been sent to Keswick and Wigton because of flooding.

    They were called to Winderbrowe Avenue in Keswick following reports of flooding affecting about six properties and they also went to West Street in Wigton.

    The Environment Agency have now issued seven flood warnings for Cumbria, external. They are:

    • Dragley Beck at Ulverston from Dragley Beck Bridge on Well Lane downstream to South Ulverston
    • Keswick Campsite
    • Poaka Beck, The Yarl, Hagg Gill and Butts Beck at Dalton in Furness including Town Centre, Queen St
    • Poaka Beck, The Yarl, Hagg Gill and Butts Beck at Dalton in Furness, Other areas at risk
    • River Ehen at Egremont, Bleach Green, Ennerdale Mill, Springfield Rd, Vale View, Wood Bank
    • River Greta at Keswick, Keswick Campsite, Rugby Club and Quinta
    • Wiza Beck & Black Beck at Wigton, Station Rd

    There are also 14 flood alerts.
