Cumbria's public health director, Colin Cox, said a further relaxation of lockdown rules is "the right thing to be doing".
Indoor hospitality and household mixing are set to return from next Monday, as the PM is due to confirm the next stage of lockdown easing in England.
Mr Cox (pictured) said transmission levels were very low in the county, with latest figures showing a rate of five per 100,000 a week.
He said: "We saw a couple of days in the last week where parts of Cumbria, Allerdale in particular, was the lowest in the country."

In Cumbria more than 303,000 people have had their first vaccination and more than half of those have had both doses.
Mr Cox said: "What we've seen so far is that the first couple of stages of easing the lockdown so far didn't seem to make a difference to the rate of transmission in Cumbria so I'm still quite positive that given the rates being as low as they are the vaccination programme being as good as it has been, that will keep a lid on transmission."
Votes are being counted to decide who will be Cumbria's next police and crime commissioner (PCC).
The candidates standing are Loraine Birchall for Liberal Democrats, Labour's Barbara Cannon and the current PCC, Conservative candidate Peter McCall.
It's taking longer than usual to count the ballot slips from Thursday's elections because of the pandemic.

Read MoreMembers of the Lake District Ski Club got the chance to get out and about again after snow hit the slopes of Helvellyn.
And they say they believe it's the first time anyone's been skiing on the mountain in May.
Club president Mike Sweeney said: "In places it's beyond knee deep, a heavy powder to start with and it got a bit slushy during the day and then it clouded over and the temperatures dropped and it got firmer again."
There's been more snow today, and more skiers are expected.
Mr Sweeney added: "It's about an hour's climb to the tow from our car park and if you're carrying skis and boots, and the snow's deep, it's more than that, but we're not complaining as we've got the only lift in western Europe as far as I'm aware."
