    World War Two veteran Ken Godfrey says it was a "lifetime dream" to be part of a Remembrance ceremony in London on Sunday.

    The 90-year-old from Long Eaton was invited as a guest of honour on behalf of Blind Veteran UK after someone else dropped out.

    Now back at home, the former infantryman said it was a great day to remember his colleagues.

    One of the supporters of the Derby tram project is Andrew Braddock from the Light Rail Transit Association who says it will complement the building of HS2.

    He said: "Nottingham, the HS2 station and East Midlands Airport are all really big places with lots of movement and we need that movement to be by public transport rather than by car."

    While most of you say you don't see the point in a tram network returning to Derby, there are some of you who think it could work.

    On our Facebook page, external, Daniel Warren, simply wrote: "I think it's a great idea."

    Menawhile Phil Butt says: "I've long been a proponent of a raised monorail system for the city as it grows and gets more congested; and think this is the best way forward. A monorail would move traffic off the streets, making them safer and reducing congestion."

    This morning's tram story has attracted plenty of Facebook comments, external and most of you seem to be against the idea.

    Rich King wrote: "Where on earth will we put the trams? There's no room & the roads in Derby are bad already."

    Rachael Taylor said: "What for?? Another Council vanity project when the real issues are ignored."

    Mark Vallis wrote: "Unbelievable! Just to connect Derby to an unwanted and still uncertain HS2! Would do nothing for improving transport around Derby."

  10. Pair questioned after woman tied up and robbedpublished at 10:29

    A man and a woman from Barnsley have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of tying up and robbing a 62-year-old woman in her own home.

    A £10,000 reward is being offered by Crimestoppers, external for information leading to a conviction over the robbery, which happened in Shirley Common on 17 October.

    Detectives have also released a CCTV image of a pedestrian they would like to speak to in case he has information which could help the inquiry.

    The tram project for Derby is not the only one that has been listed by councils in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire as a "priority project".

    A document says the University of Derby could become a low-tax enterprise zone, potentially helping it to spin out companies and create new jobs more easily. There could also be some work done to the A61 in Derby.

    This was supposed to be a secret apparently but after years of rumours about whether Derby could have a tram like Nottingham, it now seems to be very near the top of the local wish list. 

    We've got nothing definitive on costs yet but a review in 2013 put the cost of each mile of new tram line at £20m, which would mean Pride Park to the HS2 station, for instance, costing about £200m.

    This is one of the projects that has been proposed by the 19 councils of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and the final decision will be made by whoever we choose as our elected mayor - which won't happen until May 2017 - so these plans are long term.

    A two-minute silence will be observed across the UK later to remember the nation's war dead.

    The silence will be held at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - the time in 1918 when the guns finally fell silent along the Western Front.

    The region's councils have been keeping their cards close to their chest over their "devolution wishlist" but it was only a matter of time before one of the 19 authorities dropped the ball.

    Amber Valley Borough Council uploaded the file yesterday morning onto their website but shortly after I started asking questions it had been taken down again.
