    Some light and patchy rain is possible through this evening, but this will gradually clear as colder air moves in behind the rain.

    It’s a chilly night with a few isolated showers, while a breeze for most places means it will be frost free with lows of 5C (41F).

  5. Your views: Would parking charge increases deter visitors?published at 17:24

    We've  been reporting on inflation-busting increases in the cost of parking in Derby, external planned by the city council.

    Reaction has been coming in via the BBC Radio Derby Facebook, external page, and Keith Jackson said: "All they'll achieve is even fewer people visiting Derby. The council tried this sort of thing about ten years ago when they also said the income wasn't sufficient. 

    "They jacked up the prices, many fewer people used the car-parks, and at the end of the year income had barely changed, if not fallen."

    And Janet Morley posted: "There are lots of authorities offering free parking to encourage shoppers. Will the city council ever learn?"

    Derby County are almost certain to be without first-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson again for Saturday's Championship match against leaders Brighton.

    Carson, who was nominated for the November player of the month award this morning, missed Sunday's draw at Sheffield Wednesday with a back injury.

    Rams head coach Paul Clement says midfielder Craig Bryson has suffered another set-back in his season-long struggle with a knee injury, having seen one specialist this week and with another appointment due tomorrow as the club evaluate the next step in his treatment.

    More than 1,000 people have voiced their opinions about the future of Derby's libraries, in a week.

    The city council says budget cuts mean they're now considering four radical proposals to reduce the cost of running the buildings.

    One would see them left unstaffed, with CCTV used to ensure members of the public are safe, while another option would mean some libraries would shut.

    The consultation closes on 19 February next year.

  8. Retailer refutes minimum wage claimpublished at 15:55

    Retailer Sports Direct, which has its headquarters in Derbyshire, has admitted it searches staff leaving its warehouses, but says it has reduced the amount of time it takes.

    A national newspaper report today suggested the extra unpaid time taken for "rigorous" compulsory searches meant workers were paid less than the minimum wage.

    The Shirebrook-based company said: "The process has been streamlined which has led to a reduction in waiting time."

  9. Slavery issues addressed at Staffordshire eventpublished at 15:34

    The first ever conference on modern slavery is taking place in Staffordshire today. 

    The event at the Stafford Showground has been organised by police and will highlight the forms slavery takes, including people trafficking and forced labour.

    Nearly 2,000 people were identified as being at risk in the UK in 2013.

    Derby golfer Melissa Reid is three under par at the halfway stage of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters having shot the lowest score of the second round, a 66.

    The 28-year-old had an eagle and six birdies but dropped two shots on the last four holes.

  12. Illegal goods seized in Derbyshirepublished at 14:50

    A man from Derby has been questioned and bailed pending further inquiries after Trading Standards officers seized illegal goods valued at £1m in Derbyshire.

    It's one of the UK's biggest ever such hauls, consisting of nearly two million illegal cigarettes and 580kg of tobacco which were found by police in South Derbyshire while they were inspecting six units on a self-storage site.

    Other goods discovered included 31,000 Viagra-type tablets, 60 items of counterfeit clothing and 30 boxes of illegally stored display fireworks.

    A leading plus size model from Derby has attacked the culture of so called "body shaming" within the Asian community.

    Award-winning model Bishamber Das says criticising women and girls for their body shape can have a devastating impact.

    The 28-year-old says she knows of young girls who are self-harming and says Asian women are still judged by how thin and fair skinned they are.

  16. Plane lands safely after concern over faultpublished at 13:15

    Firefighters were called to East Midlands Airport last night, following reports of a distress call from a plane.

    The crews from Leicestershire returned to base after the aircraft landed safely at about 20:00.

    Flybe says there was a suspected technical fault during the flight from Belfast and as is common practice in such situations the airport had emergency vehicles on standby as a precaution.
