BBC Local LiveIt's certainly an ambitious scheme to turn Riber Castle in Derbyshire into 46 luxury apartments, so little wonder it's been a carefully thought out process.
Ivan White is the project manager and says it's been difficult to modify the Grade II listed building.
He explained: "In the castle itself there was no roof or anything in the castle for many, many years since the 1950s, so the castle had to be completely stripped out inside and we had to go down to quite a depth to get back down to what would have been the gritstone and bedrock."

The project manager at the Riber Castle development in Derbyshire Ivan White says they're halfway through the renovation.
The building is being turned into 46 luxury apartments by Cross Towers Ventures, which started the project in 2009.

If you can, use the Derby Urgent Care Centre in Osmaston Road, which has a GP and nurse practitioner on site from 08:00 until 20:00 seven days a week.
The hospital says there is no need for an appointment at the former walk-in centre. Anybody unsure of where to go should contact NHS 111, which can offer advice about the most appropriate service.

BBC Local LiveThe Royal Derby Hospital says its A&E department is under pressure today, after its busiest ever day yesterday.
A hospital spokesman said: "For the first time, we're warning patients that if they do come to A&E with minor illnesses or injuries we'll be asking them to go to the Derby Urgent Care Centre instead.
"It's vital that our A&E is reserved for seriously unwell patients who really need urgent medical attention."

BBC Local LiveAway from the water contamination in south Derbyshire, there's news this afternoon that the Royal Derby Hospital had its busiest day ever in the A&E department yesterday, with 465 patients over a 24-hour period.
The hospital says almost 10% did not need to be there and could have used alternative options for advice or treatment.

Severn Trent says it will be contacting customers over the next few days to let them know how much compensation they will receive for disruption over the weekend.
The firm's Sarah Bentley said most households would receive a payout of about £50.

BBC Local LiveSevern Trent says it's started an investigation into how chlorine got into water supplies in parts of Derbyshire and north-west Leciestershire.
More than 3,500 households were told over the weekend not to use their taps for washing, drinking or cleaning.
Peter Dudley (pictured) volunteered to help out those in need during the crisis. He said: "I've just been filling as many bottles up as I could and the ones I've managed to get off people and give to people with young children.
"It's really just trying to prioritise those [with children] and people in need. It's what I'd like people to do for my family if I needed it."
