    Severn Trent says it will be contacting more than 3,500 households across Derbyshire and Leicestershire after water supplies were contaminated.

    Customers weren't able to use their taps for about 25 hours on Friday and Saturday and the company says they will now be compensated.

    Chris Giles is the company's head of operations and said: "Our main priority's been getting everyone back using their water.

    "But yes we do expect to pay compensation to those customers impacted and we will be getting in touch with them during this week by letter."

    Severn Trent says customers who weren't able to use their water this weekend will get compensation.

    Bottled water being made available for south-east Derbyshire residents after Severn Trent Water found a chlorine problem at one of its reservoirs

    More than 3,500 households across south-east Derbyshire and north-west Leicestershire were told not to use their taps for washing, drinking or cleaning after high levels of chlorine were discovered.
