    Who's been sleeping in my nest? A peregrine tracked from Derby Cathedral by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust has found an attractive resting place in an ospreys' nest at Rutland Water.

    John Wright is a volunteer for the Osprey Reintroduction Project at Rutland and contacted the trust about the female peregrine's inquisitive behaviour.

    The trust was aware she had visited Egleton Nature Reserve, near Rutland Water, in June.

    A man and woman in their 40s from Alvaston are due to appear before magistrates charged with conspiracy to defraud relating to an alleged cash for crash scam.

    Nine other men and six women, from Derby, Belper and Coalville have also been summonsed before the court to face conspiracy to defraud charges.

    East Midlands MEP Emma McClarkin, who's at the European Parliament in Brussels, said: "I have been shocked and stunned by the events here in Brussels this morning.

    "I completely condemn these cowardly acts of terrorism. My thoughts are with those who have been caught up in these attacks, and with the families of those who have been killed.

    "We cannot allow terrorism to win, and the security forces must redouble their efforts to prevent attacks and keep innocent people safe from those who want to remove our freedom and destroy our way of life.

    Airline bmi regional, which operates flights between East Midlands Airport and Brussels, has issued a statement following this morning's explosions.

    It said: "bmi regional flights due to travel to Brussels today have been held or diverted to alternative destinations, as Brussels Airport is currently closed for all arrivals and departures.

    "All travellers due to travel with bmi regional to or from Brussels within the next 28 days will be able to change their booking without charge. 

    "We will continue to monitor the situation and update our customers as more information becomes available."

    East Midlands UKIP MEP Roger Helmer says one of his staff narrowly escaped serious injury in one of the explosions in Brussels.

    He said: “She was in the train close to the station when the bomb when off, close enough to feel the jolt,  and they had to walk down the tracks to the previous station to get out. 

    She is uninjured but shaken – and she’s very bravely come into the office to work.”

    The body of a man has been found at flats in Mackworth this morning.

    Derbyshire Police was alerted by the ambulance service who discovered the body in Aldwych at about 07:30.

    The family of a woman who died at a Derbyshire care home after a wardrobe fell on her are calling for safety improvements across the industry.

    They made their comments after a care home company was found guilty of a health and safety at work charge.

    Thomasina Bennett, 80, from Belper, died at the Milford House care home in April 2012.

    Her daughter, Margaret Calladine, said: "I hope that a lot of lessons have been learned on a lot of issues that will never happen in any home where people have put vulnerable relatives, young or old, mentally or physically impaired, and go through what we've gone through."

    Team Derby, external will defend their National Badminton League title at the finals weekend in May, despite losing their final regular season match last night.

    Derby lost 3-2 to the University of Nottingham, but those two points were enough to secure their place in the top four.

    I've been telling you about a south Derbyshire family's campaign for all children to be vaccinated against meningits B following the death of two-year-old Lexi Stokes from Foston from the disease.

    Today Parliament is due to talk about reversing the decision to only give the vaccination to babies.

    Lexi's great-grandfather Gary Stokes told us a change has to happen. He said: "It will be money very well spent on children's lives.

    "I appreciate there will be a lot of cost, there will be a lot of organisation, but they need to make a start of it even if they bring it up to all the five-year-olds."

    Abigail Lloyd is the the sister of missing Derbyshire man Josh Cotton and has joined the search for him putting up posters and speaking to people, external in Long Eaton.

    She says there have been absolutely no sightings of him and no leads either, and she can't help feeling guilty and wondering whether she could have done more.

    "Did I miss something? I saw him the Monday before he went missing and everything was normal," she said.

    "He was on about the Easter holidays, having my two boys to stay over on the narrow boat. He was making plans, upbeat, he was his usual self. There wasn't anything to set my alarm bells off."
