Ryan Lovatt, who is a friend of Adam and one of his swimming coaches, has been describing the moment he saw him win gold.
"I mean I celebrated it with Adam's family at Repton School," Lovatt said.
"I watched the swim there live and the atmosphere was just absolutely incredible.
"When he touched at 50 first and he was on the world record, it was amazing.
"And then as he progressed through the swim and he touched the wall with 57.13, what an unbelievable swim it was."

Former British swimmer Mark Foster has been analysing Adam Peaty's performance in claiming the gold medal.
"Obsessing over the small details when you're at the training pool is the right thing to do," said Foster.
"The purity of Adam's gift is that when it comes to that critical moment, he doesn't overthink it. He stays in the moment: I'm here, I'm ready, let's go."

Adam Peaty's brother, Jamie, is one proud sibling.
"I reckon Adam was thinking he was going to win gold from day one," he told BBC Breakfast.
"It's his game-face basically. We're all proud of him, so it's well deserved the medal he's won. There will be a celebration party."

Fancy having a go at being Adam Peaty? Here's a (very) rough guide of how to do it...
"It's the smoothness of Peaty's action that defines him," according to four-time Olympian Karen Pickering.
"The timing of his arms and legs is so good - the perfect stroke sees them working together, with the leg-kick driving the arms forward, not interfering with the last part of the pull."

Adam's mum Caroline was in Rio to watch her son bring home the gold.
"Wow - that is all that I can say," she said.
"I don't know whether to cry, I'm ecstatic. I'm so proud of him.
"Where he gets that power from I do not know."

Perhaps somewhat unsurprisingly, the bookies have shortened Adam Peaty's odds of winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
He now finds himself at 10/1 with William Hill.
"There is a long way to go but Adam Peaty has been exceptional and his performance might well mean he is named our sports personality of the year," said company spokesman Rupert Adams.
