    Workers employed by Sports Direct and through employment agency, The Best Connection, are expected to start getting the back pay in full towards the end of this month, says Unite.

    Assistant general secretary Steve Turner calls the move a "significant victory" in the union's campaign.

    Unite said the back pay follows an admission by retail tycoon Mike Ashley of non-payment of the minimum wage at a recent hearing of the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills (BiS) Select Committee.

    The hearing followed a campaign by the union Unite and undercover reports by the Guardian and the BBC's Inside Out team.

    Thousands of Sports Direct warehouse workers in Shirebrook are set to receive back pay totalling about £1m for non-payment of the minimum wage, according to the Unite union.

    They say payments are to be back-dated to May 2012 and could be worth up to £1,000 for some workers.

    The agreement includes workers directly employed by Sports Direct as well as staff hired through temporary employment agencies. 

    Payments are expected to start being made from the end of this month.

    Police have interviewed three people after a cat was strung up and beaten to death in a Derbyshire park.

    It's understood the attack on the cat in Riddings Park was filmed and posted on social media.

    Dame Margaret has also warned the leadership contest between Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith could split the party. 

    "That is the great fear for people who actually are Labour Party people and who want to see an alternative government to the present government with a very different approach and values. 

    "Some of the people around Jeremy, (it has) unfortunately become clear in recent weeks, are perfectly happy for that to happen."

    "If I said I wasn't interested in bringing new players in, then I think there would be a school of thought that would say we need to freshen it up," Pearson told BBC Radio Derby.
