  3. Burned body: Appeal for drivers to get in touch

    Police say they want to talk to anyone who regularly travels along the A628 between Tintwhistle and the Flouch roundabout to get in touch with them so their vehicles could be eliminated from the investigation.

    Officers have asked drivers to contact them with the make and model of their vehicle and the time that they made their journey.

  5. Burned body is a man say police

    Police have confirmed the body that was found burned in a lay-by near Tintwhistle on Monday is that of a man.

    Officers said they think his body had been there since Sunday evening and had been left there sometime between 21:00 and midnight.

    The force said detectives are still working to identify the man and believed the fire had been started at the scene.

  8. No defection after all?

    Oh dear. Bill Wright denies having defected to Labour. I've just spoken to him. He says he will be remaining a UKIP councillor.

    He told me: "It's very hard when you're getting over a stroke because your brain isn't your own."

    The former England boss left the Rams in acrimonious circumstances in May 2015 following speculation linking him with the job at Newcastle.

    He subsequently joined the Magpies but was sacked in March.

    Cllr Wright: Other parties "just come up with rhetoric and do not have any idea about the area" (in statement provided by the Labour party).

    Statement also says: "the Labour team are the only ones that care about this area". To repeat, I've not been able to speak to Bill directly.

    It's only been 17 months since Steve McClaren was sacked from Derby County after just under two years at the club.

    During his time in Derby he led the side to the Championship play-off final in 2014 but the following season they finished eighth, despite having been second in the table with 11 games to go.

    I've not been able to speak to Cllr Wright directly, but a statement in his name says he feels the Labour party best understands the area.

    UKIP councillor for Derwent ward in Derby, Bill Wright, is defecting to Labour, according to the Labour party.

    The move increases its majority to two.
