    Yesterday we told you about Derbyshire County Council proposals to charge residents for throwing away certain materials at their tips.

    People on our Facebook, external said it would increase fly-tipping - like this from yesterday.

    A developer wants to knock down The Spotted Cow in Holbrook and build about eight houses on the site.

    However the pub was given a stay of execution in November last year, when planning permission was refused by the local authority. 

    Stephanie Limb (pictured), from the Holbrook Community Society, said: "We are in talks with builders, who might be willing to go in a joint bid with us, to build two plots at the back and us buy the pub and car park as the community."

    A David Bowie fan from Derbyshire is in Berlin today to mark the first anniversary of the singer's death. 

    Bowie died just two days after his 69th birthday.

    James Draper, from Heanor, said he was one of his biggest fans.

    A 56-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, external after a 59-year-old woman was found injured at a house in Spondon.

    Paul Sherratt, of Avondale Road, Spondon, is due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court this morning.

    A Derbyshire community group is trying to raise a quarter of a million pounds to buy the local village pub from a developer. 

    The Spotted Cow in Holbrook closed in 2014 but a developer wants to knock it down and sell the land for housing.
