    A woman has suffered a suspected broken hip after a tree fell on to a car this morning, Derbyshire Police say.

    The force said the incident occurred at about 08:06 on Chatsworth Road, Rowsley.

    The woman - who was freed from her car with the help of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service - was taken to the Northern General Hospital.

    I was a little baffled as to why today's storm is called "Doris". 

    Well, it seems "Doris" was voted for by the public as part of the Met Office's "Name Our Storms pilot scheme, external" - which helped compile the list of storm names for 2016 to 2017.

    A woman with terminal cancer has said she feels "very emotional" after a number of businesses offered to help her and her partner get married. 

    Sarah Lowndes, 40, from Derby, was told the disease had spread to her bones in 2013, and that it was incurable.

    She and fiancé David, who met driving buses, have received many offers including free venue hire, flowers, food and a wedding dress.

    Earlier in the week, we told you about Lesharna Stafford, from Clay Cross, who had been missing since 17 February.

    Thankfully, Derbyshire Police has just told us the 16-year-old was found last night. The force said she is "safe and well".

    A Derbyshire fire investigator has helped to devise a smoke alarm that's more likely to wake up children. 

    Research completed by Dundee University and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service found that unlike adults, children don't tend to respond to the sound of the standard alarm.
