Thirteen patients have so far benefited from a new system of treating Pancreatic Cancer patents in Leicester.

Some of those diagnosed now wait just two weeks to be operated on instead of the usual six.

Research claims survival rates jump from 5% to 30-40%., external

    Quote Message

In order to date these patients within two weeks of their diagnosis, we often have to utilise weekend operating lists as it would be unfair to cancel other patients’ planned cancer surgery. There are certainly some patients who are not suitable for this new pathway but by operating on patients as soon as possible from their diagnosis, we are helping to avoid additional unnecessary procedures and other problems such as weight loss."
