BBC Local LiveA taxi driver who was fined after his passenger knocked a cyclist off his bike, leading to his death, has had his appeal against his conviction rejected.
Passenger Mandy Chapple, 56, was exiting Farook Yusuf Bhikhu's cab near Leicester railway station last July when her door hit 26-year-old cyclist Sam Boulton (pictured below).
Mr Boulton then fell into the path of a moving van and died from the injuries he sustained.
In his defence, driver Bhikhu told the court he did not give permission for Ms Chapple to open the door, but he was fined £300 after being convicted of permitting the opening of a vehicle door so as to injure or endanger a person in June.

BBC Local LiveA company based in Retford has been fined £500 after hundreds of plastic clock faces were fly-tipped at two sites in Morton and Carlton-in-Lindrick.
Bassetlaw District Council said Protime Clocks were charged under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 after documents linking the company were found in the rubbish at the sites.
The authority added that while there's no suggestion Protime Clocks knew the waste was going to be fly-tipped, the company had failed to ensure it was using an authorised waste removal firm.

Nottinghamshire Police, external said a 50-year-old woman was stabbed in Newark on Monday.
She remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Two men who died when a light aircraft crashed in a field in Wolvey, Warwickshire, have been named as Adrian Findlay, 55 from Rugby and 56-year-old Robert Stephens from Wolvey.
Adrian's wife Alison said her family and friends were in shock at the "sudden and tragic loss".
Robert will be remembered for his "cheeky sense of humour," said wife Caroline.
An investigation by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch into the crash is continuing.

His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj is the spiritual leader of the international Hindu organisation BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha., external
He's currently on a UK tour and will be in at the city's Hindu temple on Gypsy Lane from 12 to 15 October.
His visit comes just days before Diwali and Hindu New Year.
Darshan Patel is the lead volunteer of BAPS in Leicester - he said: “Diwali will be immensely memorable for us all this year because Mahant Swami Maharaj will be visiting Leicester for the first time as our guru and celebrating with us.
"We feel incredibly blessed to be welcoming the inspirer of so many noble activities around the world and who is loved and respected by millions.”

BBC Local LiveA man who was jailed for "intimidating" his ex-partner in the street has had his sentence reduced.
Robert William North from Owen Street in Coalville was jailed for 34 months at Leicester Crown Court after he was convicted of witness intimidation in February.
The 32-year-old also pleaded guilty to two attempted robberies.
A judge at London's Appeal Court said North’s behaviour was clearly “intimidating” but ruled his sentence was "excessive" and cut it by 10 months.

There were fears that parts of 13th Century St Mary's in Marston on Dove would collapse until December 2014 when the Heritage Lottery Fund stepped in to help.

BBC Local LiveControversial plans to sell off part of a former bowling green in Mapperley have been scrapped.
Gedling Borough Council wanted to sell the land at Haywood Road for housing.
But residents from campaign group Save the Haywood Road Green protested against the plans for several months.

The decision was approved by a panel of council officers and the group was given six months to put together a bid to buy it.
However the council has today decided to keep the land and turn it into an open space for the community.

But they said the decision not to sell the land "resulted in a loss of £300,000 and six homes" which could have been built on the site.

Rushcliffe Borough Council has received a planning application for 317 new properties from Barratt Homes as part of phase one of the housing growth project.
It will include two to five bedroom homes, including affordable housing and bungalows.

Pat Robinson's husband Nigel died when he fell from a mountain in Northern Ireland in August.
He previously climbed the Eiger in Switzerland, which is considered the toughest climb in Europe.
Pat, 74, said: "I have done over 80 gigs now... I had a slot at a women's centre the week after my husband died... it went really well.
"I thought 'this is bizarre, I am standing up to make people laugh and I've just lost my husband.'"
