Libraries were once a place for people to sit and read quietly but some have now adopted new approaches so they continue to attract more visitors.
Rattle, rhyme and roll, a popular music session for young families, is just one way to get more people to visit.
While libraries in other parts of the country are closing because of tightening budgets, there are still 60 in Nottinghamshire, and 19 in Nottingham.
Jackie Smith, assistant library manager in Beeston, said: "I think we have got to change if we want to be the hub of the community... people come to us for all sorts of things. We are not just about books, we are about a lot more now."
