Police have been describing the conditions in which two Polish slaves were kept in at a property in Nottingham.
Edward Zielinski, of Birkin Avenue, Hyson Green, (see 12:48) was jailed earlier after admitting two charges of human trafficking.
Det Sgt Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said the pair were forced to sleep in a loft and were hit and threatened.

A company boss, who conned his customers out of thousands of pounds via a tax scam, has been handed a suspended jail sentence.
Clifford Lockwood, of Murray Street, Mansfield, charged his customers more than £32,000 in VAT, but kept the money.
Lockwood, 40, did not register his windows and doors company until he was being investigated and used fake VAT numbers on his invoices.
He also removed names and addresses from invoices.
But he was caught when a customer, whose name had not been removed, confirmed to HMRC that they had paid VAT, despite an invoice stating they had not.
Lockwood admitted the tax fraud at Nottingham Crown Court last month and was handed a 10-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, earlier today.

A fire that caused major damage to a restaurant in Derby was started by an unattended Halloween tea light, an investigation has found, external.
Six crews were needed to deal with the blaze at The Palfrey, in Blacksmiths Yard, at 04:20 on Sunday.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started in the bar area of the building and spread to the roof space, causing extensive damage.
Restaurant owner Sharon Marlow said she was "absolutely heartbroken" by the fire but thankful nobody was hurt.
She advised other venues to stick to electric candles.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash, external in Leicestershire at the weekend.
Police said the man, in his forties, died when his Black Yamaha and a Renault people carrier collided at the junction of Bosworth Road and Hinckley Road in Osbaston yesterday afternoon.

A teacher from Alvaston has been named primary school teacher of the year at a national awards ceremony.
Michelle Garton (pictured left), from Wyndham Primary Academy, received the honour at the Pearson Teaching Awards which were shown on BBC Two last night.
The judges said, external: "Her classroom immerses the children in their learning, using amazing texts to stimulate and engage all pupils, a range of teaching techniques to allow children to use a range of technology, experience and explore the topic through drama and research.
Her colleague Nicol Winfield got a silver in the new teacher category. A special assembly was held at the school this morning to celebrate their achievement.

A man has been charged with burgling a music venue in Derby city centre, external.
Police said the 36-year-old homeless man was remanded into custody over 17 thefts, attempted thefts and burglaries from vehicles and properties - including The Hairy Dog in Becket Street.
The alleged offences all happened in October. He is due at Derby Crown Court on 24 November.

A Conservative MP has called for change in the "culture" at Westminster, amid a series of allegations of inappropriate behaviour in Parliament.
Nicky Morgan, MP for Loughborough, said she believes many people working in Westminister do not know where to turn.
She said: "If it's your first job and you're vulnerable and you don't know if this behaviour is acceptable and you don't know who to talk to, actually where do you turn to?
"I think in any workplace it's the people at the top who set the cultures and clearly the culture that we're working in in Westminster - as in many other workplaces - people have to think about the culture they're setting, not just turn a blind eye to it."
At the moment, there is a 24-hour confidential helpline for all staff to report abuse claims and an HR advice service for MPs and their staff.
But those who work for a Member of Parliament are directly employed by that person's office and are not covered by grievance procedures for other parliamentary staff.

A man who kept two Polish nationals as slaves, forcing them to urinate in plastic bottles so they did not wake him up at night, has been jailed.
Edward Zielinski, of Birkin Avenue, Hyson Green, exploited the pair, locking them in his loft (pictured) and forcing them to work for little or no money.
Zielinski, who admitted two charges of human trafficking earlier this month, was jailed for three years and two months.

We've had a little more information from the ambulance service on this morning's evacuation at the Moy Park chicken processing plant in Ashbourne.
A spokeswoman said it was alerted to 30 patients needing medical attention at the factory at about 08:05.
The Hazardous Area Response Team was deployed along with the air ambulance and road ambulances.
Paramedics treated 35 patients at the scene and two patients were taken to hospital with minor ailments.
BBC Radio Derby reporter Heidi Booth said no workers or emergency service vehicles were outside the plant now.
A Moy Park spokesperson said: "As a precautionary measure we halted production in part of our Ashbourne facility for a short period whilst we investigated the cause of an unknown odour.
"In line with our procedures, staff were evacuated from the area and emergency services supported the site.”
The firm added it was still investigating the cause of the odour.

An Old Bailey jury has been told that Munir Mohammed from Derby is standing trial accused of preparing terrorist acts.
He's jointly charged with Rowaida El-Hassan from London. They've both denied trying to make an improvised explosive device (IED) or poison to attack people in the UK.
Prosecutor, Anne Whyte QC, said the pair had gruesome IS videos designed to justify violence, and used the internet to prepare terror acts.
Munir Mohammed's accused of planning a lone wolf attack, supported by his co-defendant.
Police found chemicals used in the explosive TATP at his Derby home, and instructions to make detonators and ricin poison.
The jury was told the couple met on a Muslim dating website and Munir Mohammed used Facebook to contact an IS commander, asking for a job in the UK.

The venues for next summer's European under-17 Championships have a distinct midlands feel.
The FA has announced, external that the opening match of the tournament will be held at Chesterfield and there will also be games at Loughborough University, St. George's Park and Burton Albion.
The tournament, which runs from 4-20 May next year, will feature 16 teams, with England qualifying automatically as hosts.
England under-17s head coach Steve Cooper said: "The tournament gives the towns and regions an opportunity to see the best young talent from across the continent.
"We are very much looking forward to the challenge."
The Young Lions - who were runners-up to Spain in the 2017 competition - went on to win the Under-17 World Cup on Saturday.

Police say two workers at the Moy Park chicken processing plant in Ashbourne have been taken to hospital after the factory was reportedly evacuated this morning.
The Derby Telegraph is reporting, external East Midlands Ambulance Service's Hazardous Area Response Team and the National Chemical Emergency Centre are currently at the plant.
A Derbyshire Police spokesman said officers were called to the Blenheim Road site at about 08:44 and two members of staff were taken to hospital with what is believed to be "minor ailments".
He added officers were still at the scene.
