    How difficult can it be to prepare, fit and shoe a horse within one hour?

    The BBC has been finding out over at the Army School of Farriery in Melton Mowbray. They're hosting a three day competition to show off their skills and have invited other farriers to show off theirs.

    Today, 24 qualified military farriers and ex-military farriers were challenged to make and fit a shoe onto a horse, all within one hour.

    The competition continues over the weekend where civilian farriers can compete against military personnel.

    Sir Andrew Witty has announced he's retiring as chancellor of the University of Nottingham, external at the end of the academic year.

    The former GlaxoSmithKline chief executive has been in the role since 2013.

    The search for a new chancellor will begin next week with staff, students and former students invited to nominate people.

    Prince Charles has been to visit the University of Nottingham's campus in Malaysia, external.

    His Royal Highness toured the site, was told about research taking place there and helped to launch a youth summit on environmental issues.

    At one point he stepped on to the balcony overlooking the campus's main plaza to wave at hundreds of students and staff gathered below.

    The trip is part of the 68-year-old's first visit to Malaysia.

    Cardiff City star Lee Tomlin has been sentenced to 80 hours of community service for his part in a brawl, which left a man with a badly broken jaw.

    Fellow footballer Billy Kee, a forward with League Two side Accrington Stanley, was fined £350 for throwing a punch during the same fight outside a Leicester nightclub earlier this year.

    Tomlin, 28, admitted affray after prosecutors decided not to proceed with a wounding charge.

    Leicester Crown Court was told Kee, 26, who pleaded guilty to common assault, attempted to pull his friend Tomlin away from the confrontation.

    Both players had been accused of causing grievous bodily harm but were cleared of the charge on the orders of the judge.

    This was the sorry state a car was left in after being involved in a five-vehicle crash in Derbyshire yesterday.

    The collision happened in Woodthorpe Road in Mastin Moor at about 17:35.

    Derbyshire Police said the driver and a number of passengers were taken to hospital but had no information on their condition.

    Police are investigating another cash machine ram-raid - this time at the Aldi store in Ashby de la Zouch.

    This is the 22nd time a cash machine has been targeted by thieves in the last 18 months in Leicestershire and Rutland.

    Police have confirmed no cash was stolen from the machine and nothing was taken from the store.

    Earlier this week cash was stolen from machines in Coalville and Oakham and there was also a failed attempt to steal one in Leicester.

    Police have apologised after a training exercise in Derby city centre prompted panic among some members of the public.

    Derbyshire Police said a fictional scenario involving emergency call handlers dealing with reports of people armed with weapons led to a rumour sweeping across the city that a real-life emergency was happening.

    The force said it received a small number of calls. One firm of solicitors also instructed staff to stay inside the building.

    A spokeswoman said: "This was a training exercise only and people do not need to be alarmed.

    "We apologise for any distress that this may have caused. Police, together with other emergency services and partner agencies, regularly conduct training exercises to test our preparedness for major incidents in the county."

    Two of these special war memorial benches have been installed at Hinckley War Memorial ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

    The benches are to commemorate each of the world wars.

    This one includes a white dove of peace for World War Two while the other has red poppies incorporated for World War One.

    Police are looking for two teenage boys from Arnold who have gone missing separately.

    Oren Widdison (left), 15, was last seen at his home in the town at about 20:00 yesterday.

    Kian Ward, 14. has been missing since 23:00 on Tuesday.

    The DVLA has clamped or towed 145 vehicles in Nottingham this week as part of a special operation targeting untaxed cars.

    An automatic number plate recognition van was used to spot the illegal vehicles.

    The DVLA has said they only clamp vehicles as a last resort.
