    Severn Trent Water says it has finished fixing a burst water pipe, external on Station New Road in Old Tupton so residents in the area should see supplies returning to normal over the next few hours.

    In a scene reminiscent of a John Lewis Christmas ad, amazing footage has emerged of a fox and a badger heading into the same burrow.

    A cow is also drawn to the hole - but seemingly decides against trying to join the party.

    The video was captured at Attenborough Nature Reserve by Notts Wildlife Trust, which said it wasn't unheard of for badgers and foxes to share burrows.

    The trust added they had observed the same fox and a badger going into the same hole since - so it wasn't a one-off.

    There's been a big Children in Need announcement in Leicester this morning.

    The BBC team is launching a cookbook with 50 recipes to celebrate 50 years of BBC Radio Leicester.

    Publishers are working hard to get it ready, and fingers crossed it’ll be here in time for Children in Need later this month.

    Plans for a new 80 bedroom hotel in Mansfield are due to be approved later.

    It would be built on the former Rosemary Street Bus Station site, which closed four years ago.

    As well as a hotel, current plans also include a roof terrace, restaurant, café, bar and gym.

    We've had an update, external on the crash between a car and a lorry that closed Etwall Road between Mickleover and Etwall for several hours yesterday.

    Derbyshire Police said a 31-year-old woman in an Audi was airlifted to hospital in Coventry where she remains in a serious condition.

    Her seven-month-old son is being treated for minor injuries at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

    The 49-year-old lorry driver also suffered minor injuries. The road has since reopened.

    The parents of a terminally ill two-year-old boy say a special minibreak away was ruined because their hotel was so filthy they couldn't stay in it.

    Wendy Willcock says they had been looking forward to taking their son Dawson, who has liver cancer, to see the Blackpool illuminations but ended up leaving the Colonial Hotel in disgust.

    The family, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, couldn't find another hotel at such late notice and had to come home.

    They have now had the £100 paid for the room refunded.

    As of tomorrow residents in Thurmaston and Syston will be without a "vital bus service".

    Arriva Bus is ending its Number 6 service between Syston and Leicester claiming too few people use it.

    After monitoring patronage over a long period research proved that the buses consistently travelled along this corridor with only a small number of people on-board, which does not nearly cover the costs we incur whilst running the service."

    It seems a lot of people want it to stay though - a campaign group has gathered over 2,000 signatures in a bid to save it.

    Laurie Needham is leading the campaign and said: "Several hundred people rely on this bus. Many will not be able to get to work on time or their children to school without it. Elderly and disabled residents will be isolated from shops and medical care."

    There will be a protest outside the Arriva depot in Thurmaston later this morning.

    The Campaign for Better Transport has said the East Midlands has seen almost 30 bus routes cut or altered in the last year.

  9. Pedestrian dies after being hit by lorry on A52published at 09:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2017

    A man has died after being hit by a heavy goods vehicle on the A52 last night.

    The incident took place at 20.45 at Butterwick.

    The man, who has not yet been formally identified, was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where he died.

    Lincolnshire Police, external are appealing for witnesses who saw the man walking on the A52 earlier that evening.

    A burst pipe has led to disruption to water supplies in part of Chesterfield this morning.

    The University of Derby says it will no longer be advertising on the Mail Online website.

    In a series of tweets last night, the university said it had taken the decision because some of the site's content contradicted its values and was a possible source of conflict.

    It said: "Like many organisations, we use programmatic advertising. While we pay careful attention to the publishers used, occasionally our ads get displayed alongside articles that we would not have chosen.

    "Having spoken with our supplier, we're unable to satsifactorily exclude our ads from all webpages containing content which contradicts our values.

    "To ensure that one possible conflict is eliminated, we will be stopping our ads from appearing on MailOnline."

    Mail Online has been invited to comment.

    A few weeks after 11-year-old Amelia Naylor suffered a cardiac arrest during school cross-country event, she is returning to school.

    Her mum and school head teacher helped save her life by performing CPR until the ambulance arrived.

    A senior police officer in Derby has urged the city council to introduce an age limit for taxis after describing the state of the fleet as "unacceptably poor".

    Ch Supt Jim Allen said an inspection of ten taxis in Derby last month found them all to be defective and seven were in such a bad state they had to be taken off the road immediately.

    He said a taxi inspected in May had such a badly corroded floor pan, he was able to push a biro through and see the road surface. Another car was displaying 329,000 miles on its odometer.

    Derby City Council is unusual in not having an age limit on its taxi fleet but its licensing committee is due to meet next week to discuss the idea of bringing one in.

    The authority said it did not want to comment until after that meeting.

    Mohammed Saffaf, chairman of the Derby Hackney Carriage Union, said many drivers would not be able to afford to upgrade to newer vehicles at a time when trade was low.

    Staff on Nottingham's trams are facing anti-social behaviour almost daily according to a union.

    Drivers have reported people throwing stones, riding bikes close to the trams, even doing wheelies down the tracks.

    Safety bosses have released this film showing cases, external of what they're calling "fool-hardy" behaviour.

    One person said: "When they get caught without tickets they can be a bit abusive and loud."

    Another woman said she'd seen someone ride along the tram track on a motorbike on just the back wheel at about 60mph.
