    The Met Office's yellow weather warning for wind remains in place this evening.

    However the wind will begin to ease and it will be dry with clear spells with some outbreaks of rain.

    It will be a cloudy start tomorrow with some rain but it will become drier and brighter during the afternoon. A few showers still possible but starting to feel colder with maximum temperatures of 6C (43F).

    There's been a sharp rise in the number of ambulances being delayed outside hospitals, according to performance figures from NHS England.

    Between Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, 178 crews in Leicester were delayed by more than an hour and 182 waited between 30 and 60 minutes.

    In Nottingham, 81 patients waited between 30 and 60 minutes while just four waited more than an hour.

    But 233 patients at King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield waited 30 to 60 minutes and 41 waited more than an hour.

    Delays in ambulances

    In Derby, 152 patients waited between 30 and 60 minutes and just six people waited more than 60 minutes.

    The handover of patients shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes according to NHS targets but at King's Mill between Christmas Day and New Year's Eve 43% of handovers took more than 30 minutes.

    Richard Henderson, chief executive of EMAS said: "It has been a challenging time but we’ve delivered the best possible service with the resources available to us."

    Police have shared CCTV images in a bid to catch vandals who damaged a Christmas display in Chesterfield town centre.

    A sleigh with three elves and a reindeer was destroyed at the Vicar Lane Shopping Centre just before 23:00 on 21 December.

    They've asked anyone who recognises themselves or someone they know in the images to call 101.

    The budget grocery chain wanted to open a store on a two-and-a-half acre former Pretty Polly factory site in Mansfield Road.

    Derby is the third fastest growing city in the UK, according to a new report.

    The research by an economic consultancy says the weak pound at the end of 2017 boosted manufacturing exporters in the city like Toyota and Rolls-Royce - with only Cambridge and Aberdeen's economies growing more quickly.

    Leicester and Nottingham placed 33rd and 34th in the rankings respectively.

    The RSPCA has described the discovery of a bag containing nine dead hares as "horrific".

    The Leicester Mercury reported, external the gruesome discovery was made by a dog walker on a road in Swannington yesterday morning.

    A spokeswoman for the charity said: "This must have been a horrific find for the person who came across the bodies which had been dumped in a large bag."

    She added that as hunting hares was not illegal with the landowner's permission, the RSPCA would not be taking the matter further.

    The Campaign for Real Ale has confirmed that the Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival will be held at the Nottingham Arena for the next three years.

    It is moving venues during a major redevelopment of its regular home at Nottingham Castle.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man exposed himself to a 17-year-old girl in Bingham.

    Nottinghamshire Police , externalsaid it happened outside the Chesterfield Pub in Church Street at about 09:40 on 30 December.

    The man, who was in his 40s or 50s, is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, of slim build, with untidy grey hair.

    He had a "scruffy appearance" and a noteable gap between his front teeth and a chipped tooth.

    The family of a 74-year-old man who died after being hit by a car in Clay Cross earlier this week have shared a photo of him, external.

    Alan Roberts, from North Wingfield, was struck by a Mazda MX-5 while crossing High Street on Tuesday evening.

    The car stopped after the crash but no arrests were made. Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

    A nursery in Leicester has been saved after the city council decided to rethink its Braunstone Leisure Centre extension.

    Leicester City Council had planned to convert a space leased by Sunflowers Nursery into a new dance and fitness suite.

    It could have led to the nursery closing for good but following a consultation, the authority will allow them to continue to rent the space.

    Boots' parent company says retail sales in its UK stores fell by 1.4% in the three months to December - describing the market as "challenging".

    Globally, sales for Walgreens Boots Alliance rose by almost 8% but quarterly profits were badly hit because of costs associated with investing in a pharmacy company in China.
